Brewers will surprise everyone by winning another game in St. Louis. Garcia has given up 23 unearned runs this year , which shows his ERA is aided by errors. Teams hit him for .273 average, high by NL standards. Also he has pitched far more innings this year than the previous year so could be tired. The Brewers now have the confidence to win on the road. Greineke is still tough to hit and lately the Cardinals can't seem to put hits together to score in bunches.

Everyone seems to think STL can't lose again at home. They can.

His ERA of 3.56 looks pretty good, but what happens in many cases is that a pitcher will have an inning where they are getting hit around. But because there was an error, especially with 2 outs, none of the runs are earned. His IP: hit ratio and batting average allowed stats show that Garcia was mediocre this year. 23 unearned runs is a lot of runs allowed even with some bad fielding.

even if we're assuming that this has more merit than it actually does, you're forgetting how bad the cardinals up the middle defense was at the begging of the year

Yes they are.

He also didn't mention Greinke's sub par playoff performances so far.

Thank you Matt Holliday for the over 7.5.

I think what he was pointing out is the irony of your statement in the fact that you were losing the very definition of the statistic based on it being an acronym. It is called Earned Run Average for a reason.

I agreed with you tonight because I'm a fish. Brewers definitely should've scored more runs tonight and the errors were brutal, but the Cards were the right side. They have the longer lineup, were at home, and Garcia's off-speed pitches/left-handedness meant that if you bet the Brewers you basically either thought Braun would continue to produce runs at an unsustainable rate, that Weeks would wake up, and/or that some unsung hero would get it done.

Hate myself for taking the Brewers tonight.
