We have recently implemented new mitigation processes, some of which are transparent to posters and some that will require extra action to access the forums.

Beginning tonight, if we experience an attack that the transparent mitigation process does not stop, we will be putting up an intermediate page for anybody that tries to access the forums. This page simply requires you to click a button to prove you are a real person and then after a quick verification will forward you to the forums. Once you have completed this processes you will be able to navigate the forums as usual. Below is an image of the verification page that you may see.

This is not a case of Financial extortion. No ransom demands have been made by anyone. My only guess is someone who for unknown reasons to us anyway, does not want The Rx to succeed and is willing to spend whatever these DDoS attacks cost in an effort to do it...The same goes for certain paid posters who are here only to undermine the site.

The Rx only wishes for everyone do well and has no desire to criticize other websites or take part in any kind of forum drama. We are not interested in the activities at other websites but instead wish to improve our own website and any future properties we are involved with without throwing stones at the competition, much less instigate a DDoS attack. To clarify that I am not insinuating a competing forum is behind these attacks, for all I know it could be some long ago banned poster holding a grudge or just some hackers who selected us at random. I am not accusing anyone and have no reason to suspect anyone in particular.

I just want to add that these latest efforts on the part of The Rx.com to defeat these attacks have not come cheaply...

I got hit with a virus a week ago, and it cost me $120 to get the PC up and running.

your computer could have been part of a botnet or sending spam like crazy, both things lead to $$$$ , in fact, infected computers are how DDoS are launched
