If the Raiders have a starting QB in Palmer who is in the top 50% of NFL QB's for 3 years, than the deal was a good one for the Raiders.

From what I think I remember hearing earlier today was Oakland has NO picks in the:
1st
2nd
4th
6th
7th
Rounds in the upcoming 2012 draft. :ohno:

I think it's a great deal for the Raiders. Palmer gives them a legit QB that can get the ball to his receivers. How many 1st rounders actually work out and even get to play in the NFL?

I think it's a conditional pick for the 2nd 1st rounder. If the Raiders make the playoffs, then the "condition" kicks in.

I'm sure Palmer kept himself in shape when he wasn't playing. He must have been working out somewhere to make sure he was in shape in case some sort of deal was made. Amazing that Cincy gave in and got rid of him.

They gave up way too much, but ultimately the window to win it all is small and Oakland took their shot. Palmer is still a top QB in my opinion, and I've been saying it for a while. He just needed to get to a new team that could pass protect.

Way to much for someone who hasn't taken a snap in a real game for that long, i guess only time will tell but watch out for CIN. They are going to have fun with their 9 picks in the first 2 rounds next year

It's actually 9 picks in the first three rounds of the 2012+2013 drafts combined, not just in next years first two rounds.

Yes, still a bunch of early picks to build that team and stack up on talent. Especially with the way the Bengals have drafted over the last couple of years, that should make for a good roster. They also have decent room under the cap, if their owner finally is willing to spend some money...and the additional 5th rounder (2012) and 6th rounder (2013) by NE from the Ocho Cinco deal, which could also be used as leverage if they wanted to move up the board in the draft.

Awful deal for Oakland, unless they think they have a legitimate shot at winning the SB this year with Carson Palmer playing QB (which I think everyone knows is a lock to NOT happen, unless your name is Hue Jackson).

And the thing is, Campbell was doing a good job for them- now what happens when he comes back ready to play next year? They have a QB controversy if Palmer finishes the year strong.. and they have traded away the future of their franchise, losing a first rounder and second rounder at AT BEST. They should have looked at a serviceable free agent they could have got for much less.. even from the same team they traded with- Gradkowski played for them last year, and knows the franchise. Could have been had for much less and put them in the position to at least contend for the playoffs. Mind-boggling trade, in my mind.

I don't think anyone will question if he is a good pick up.

What people will question is if the Raider's gave to much for him... which I believe they did.

The whole point is to win.

Oakland today is better team than two days ago.

As for the future, the Raiders aren't exactly an old team. Free agency can fill some voids. Something the Raiders have always done.

They paid a price, but to say it is too much misses the entire point. And that is the whole point is to win!
