From a box to a household, we can ship your items to Costa Rica. Our rates are based on the cubic ft and rates include all taxes, duties, customs etc. We have warehouses located in Fl and San Jose. This is truly the easiest way to ship whatever you have to Costa Rica.

Say, I have a friend who is moving back to the States. What is the best way to ship stuff the other direction? (to San Francisco)

Does U.S. customs tax any the contents of "home moving" (furniture, clothes, electronics, etc) coming from Costa Rica?

What does a container cost? Anyone do door-to-door? Would you ship to Florida and truck to California, or ship to LA/SFO?

To the request above. Sure it can be done. First I would need to figure out exactly what they want to ship back, where it's located in CR, when, lots of details before we could quote. Feel free to give me a call 8729-6879. It's funny I get calls to move people from the US to here, they say there fed up with the way things are there, the next call is the opposite, people that have moved here from US saying get me outta Costa Rica. If I can help let me know, just need more details for an accurate quote.

Change is the only constant.

Speaking of my friend, a good place to get inexpensive but high-quality packing boxes suitable for international shipping within a container?

Something that is strong and stack-able, and will stand up to humidity, so generic cardboard boxes are out. Pricesmart has nice plastic boxes that stack, but they're $15-20/each. The same but at wholesale volume prices would be great.

My friend wants to pack a container here, and have literally the same physical container show up at his house in California. That's possible I presume?

Also he needs large bundles of bubble wrap (like suitable for wrapping a 6-foot mirror); and plastic wrap like they have @ the airport. Plastic wrapping heavy cardboard boxes is an idea, but still risks getting destroyed if they get opened by customs and not repacked well. Anyone use these guys? http://www.intermoves-sgcr.com/

I think that you would be better off selling what you have in CR (theres actually quite alot of demand for used furniture and stuff) and with that money you can buy back a better version of everything brand new in the US.

Most of the stuff you bought in CR you paid duty on already when it was imported (indirectly or not), which is why the prices of goods are so high, so it makes no sense to me why you would not want to take advantage of that and just sell everything at a premium in the CR market?

People always complain about high prices of things like cars, but they do retain their value and it would make little sense not to sell them back into the inflated market.

Nevermind the great hassle of exporting from Costa Rica, who knows if they assess you some sort of export tax or whatever paperwork is required. I also think that the US would certainly charge you duty on everything unless some goods are duty free by CAFTA and you actually fill out the appropriate paperwork which could take forever. Seems like a nightmare.

Yes, you're absolutely right, and that's what he's doing with almost everything.

But then there's original art (statues, paintings, ceramics) and home decor, musical instruments, wife's wardrobe, purse and shoe collection... that's not easily sold and repurchased. So one container, which represents actually very little of the household.

The wife is the problem I think, guys are less sentimental with stuff. When I moved here 11 years ago, I sold everything and came with three suitcases.

Can you pick up some packages and put all of them in a box? I got screwed by a co-worker and I have like 15 small packages at Florida and I would need you to pick them up and just put everything on a big box?
