one man pushes all the right buttons

the other man hasn't made one good decision yet, but has repeated bad decisions

players win games comfortably, managers win (or lose) one run games

Washington better hope his players can overcome his mistakes

almost reminds me of 1993, when the Phillies kept going back to Mitch Williams

hey Ron, Ogando is having a great series

his ERA is 000!!!!!!

bring him in again next time, even if you starter is pitching a shutout, put the game in the hands of the man that has sucked since shortly after the allstar break

and maybe you can pitch hit with a guy that hasn't played in a month too

I guess LaRusso blew that....He is such a terrible manager. How is he managing at this level? Washington is a genius! Sound ridiculous? It is...Rangers hit the ball and won. This game is played by players not managers.

do I really need to list Washington's decisions these last two games?

going to Ogando in game one, fall behind

get tying and go ahead runners on base, use two pinch hitters that don't have one decent swing between them, including one pinch hitter that didn't play in a moth when he has more experienced options on the bench

onto to game two, same situation, same batter, same decision to go with Ogando, same result

seriously? that's an impact player baby

and who is Ogando? been rocked since the beginning of August, now he's your man?

well missing a cut-off man may have saved his ass and helped his team overcome another bad late game pitching decision

I jumped on Washington earlier. But now that the rangers won this game, Washington has a great chance to make Larussa look like an idiot for pitching his only lefty in their pitchers ballpark. There are two rules to winning baseball in Arlington.
1. Left handed pitching
2. Hitting the ball to right field and right center

Washington might win the mgr matchup afterall.....let's go rangers

Ogando was an all star starting pitcher...he has allowed 5 hits in 10+ innings in October. And he has been the go to guy all post season behind the starter. Have you missed those first 2 series. And pulling Motte for Rhodes? Really? Thats smart? I am not agreeing with all the decisions either manager made, but the game is won and lost between the chalk. The Rangers finally came through and pieced together an inning and won the game. Just like the Cardinals did last night.

I'm on the Rangers, which is why you can sense my anger

I'm on them in TX, just hope I don't see Ogando facing Craig in a tie game late with the go ahead run on base

I hear ya man. I had my max wager on Texas tonight. I was dog cussing Washington when he yanked Colby, as I stated in the in-game thread while it was happening. Just my opinion, there is nothing wrong with Ogando facing Craig, the problem tonight was the timing of the pitching change. Lewis was pitching well, ball off a glove gets a guy to 3rd, and wash gets a guy out of pen when a past ball would score a run is what I didn't like. Craig had a bloop single tonight and was late on a ball last night, lucky it was fair and Cruz would have caught the ball last night if the dirt wasn't muddy, where he could not slide and catch it.
Like I said, its just my opinion, but Ogando isn't the problem. The timing by Washington was the problem.

Anyways, glad your on Texas. I'm betting em every game and on em for the series. The advantage the rangers have at home is huuuuuggggee with the pitching matchups. They haven't lost to a righty in Arlington in a long time now, beating Verlander and Shields included in that list. Jackson, Lohse, and Carpenter second time around aren't quite Verlander-esque either.

I'll be in the parking lot Sunday (in not rich enough to shell out the 1k to go inside, so ill watch it on tv in the parking lot)

Considering how Texas got here...not just this season or the playoffs....but over the past years that Washington has been coach, there's nothing wrong with what he's doing.

Just looking at the moves he's made with the lineup (not moving Young out of the 4 spot even though he struggled initially) and the bullpen, it's hard to criticize him.

Ogando had been money up until the WS. He lost game 1. Washington chose to show confidence in him againin game 2 and it didnt work out. Maybe Ogando isnt the right option, but criticizing Ron for his moves and game strategy is off-base.

The criticism of LaRussa.....eh. Motte clearly didnt have his great stuff last night. Doing the lefty/lefty on Hamilton isnt a bad choice but it did setup Josh to hit a sac fly to right that maybe Motte couldnt get. Who knows.

go Rangers!

Motte's stats with guys on 3rd and less than two outs aren't very good...I was fine with Rhodes coming in

I think "the Genius" threw his bullpen coach under the bus. They didn't hear what he said, not once, but twice? He asked for Mott, and they got up Lynn-those 2 don't sound even remotely alike. He got to the mound and said, "what are you doing here" to the pitcher? If you believe that, I got some swamp land in Florida to show you:ohno::hahahahah

I agree, I'm not buying that story at all. Why he let scrabble pitch to Napoli is beyond me, Napoli has owned left handed pitchers his entire career. 3 down 1 to go.
My personal favorite play from last night was the hit and run Pujols put on, then got a high fastball he couldn't swing at and Craig got hosed. And then the hit and run in the 9th inng when Pujols struck out and Craig got hosed. I really have no clue why a team puts a hit and run on in the 9th inng no outs, when playing in the ballpark in Arlington and a homerun ties the game, plus holliday, berkman, freese due up. But whatever, I made money so I'm happy

Oh, yeah, I completely forgot to mention THAT, you're down 2 with arguably the game's best hitter at the plate, who is closing in on the all time HR post season record-and is in good form, no less-and you call a hit and run. Shrewd...:laughingb:nohead:

I've said it before and I will say it again. The game is played on the field, and the players have to execute. That being said, Ron Washington is a great manager. He is beating "the genius" manager. How else would the Rangers get back to the World Series for the second year in a row? Ogando looked pretty good last night too for his 4 outs. And Napoli in the 8 hole, a "terrible" managerial decision, has just happened to net 5 very important runs the past 2 games coming up to bat at the perfect time. I will take Wash running and looking like an excited little kid any day!
