if this ends up being a success, i wouldn't say the players forming there own league would be completely unrealistic.

the owners need the players more then the players need the owners. this isn't like the nfl where you have nowhere else to go. kobe is getting offered millions overseas, and many players have gone overseas.

this tour is being financed by outside investors, one of them an atlanta real estate mogul, so its proven that the players can get big time investors to throw money behind them.

if i were the players id make the owners flinch. the smaller markets will cave when they cant fill there arenas. a study showed these arenas lose 1 million in revenue per nba game they lose.

Good news for the NBA players... I intend to watch them in the World Tour just as often as I did during the NBA season O %

All I ever hear about is how there are no no black sports owners, or at the very least, very few. Now is the time for all of the rich black people to step up and stake their claim, start a new league, and stick it to the man.

Somebody set a line for me on this happening.

Exactly. The owners are billionaires, they don't need the players. Hopefully the NBA never comes back.

Everyone was panicking when the NFL was locked out, nobody gives a crap about the NBA.

There are 1 or 2 players on most teams that we want to see play...then there are 10 we could give a crap about...those are the guys that need to work

These games are only competitive with scoring. Defense doesn't exist because players are afraid of injury.

It's like watching the all-star game 6 times in a row. I'll pass. Bring on college hoops.

the owners need the players as much as i need the nba. Let them start their own league. Maybe they can have it ready by March of 2012. Just in time for the play-offs. lol lol. I hope you are joking

The NBA players remind me of rebel without a cause. I am a fan that stopped buying tickets to Celtic games years ago. They never noticed and that was and is fine with me. The players have figurativly threatened suicide and slashed their wrists prematurely. No one is running for plasma or even a mop. A travelling freak show to Europe or wherever will surely make non-USA fans wonder what all the fuss is about after the jet lag and boredom sets in. I mean come on, David Stern actually had to tell these children to wear suits rather than oversized t-shirts and baggy jeans a few years ago. Of course his reward for enforcing this common sense was the usual response...welcome to the real world, real soon, you morons. Let's see how much money you spend on tickets when you struggle like the rest of us.

obviously the responses in this thread are not realistic, and the people responding are non nba fans who wont watch anyways.

fact: NBA is right with MLB in terms of popularity as the second most popular league in America. Compare these world series ratings with last years finals ratings, very close.

obviously there is a market out there. millions of people want to see these guys play throughout the world, which is why the players are getting deals overseas, and why the players can force the owners hands if this world tour is successful. jmo though.

I think those are very realistic responses GTC08. 22-YO's are not buying those $250-500 seats behind the bench. The middle-age are. How many games did you attend last year?
