Patriots WR Julian Edelman faces groping charge

New England Patriot wide receiver and special teams star Julian Edelman is due in Boston court today on charges of groping a woman on the dance floor during a Halloween party early today in a Back Bay bar, authorities said.
The 25-year-old Edelman is charged with indecent assault and battery in connection with the alleged grope that had one witness wanting to take on the Patriot right away, according to a police report.
The alleged sexual assault was reported shortly after 1:30 a.m. at the Storyville bar on Exeter Street, said Jake Wark, a spokesman for the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office. The upscale jazz nightclub is located a block away from the Prudential Center.
Edelman posted bail following his arrest and has not been spotted yet in Boston Municipal Court where he faces arraignment sometime today.
The police report on the bust states Edelman "reached under" a woman’s party costume and "grabbed her vagina."
The male witness told police he watched as the alleged victim’s face changed into "an expression of shock" at the time of the reported sexual assault.
Both the witness and the alleged victim demanded Edelman be kicked out of the club immediately, the report states. That witness and the alleged victim were booted first, police report, after that "witness" threatened to beat up Edelman. The Patriot is listed in the police report as tanding 5-feet, 10-inches tall and weighing 200 pounds.
Police said the alleged victim was trying to keep the witness from taking on Edelman after the alleged dance-floor groping.
Edelman was also ejected from the club and then denied the allegations to cops, police report.
The male witness, which the Herald is not identifying until he can be reached for comment, told cops he watched as Edelman "bumped" into the woman just before the receiver allegedly slipped his hand under her Halloween costume.
Edelman was arrested by Boston police and booked soon after.
