Daylight saving time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday, which means you'll need to turn back your clock one hour before going to sleep Saturday night.

But before you click, there are several things you should do when the time changes:

Replace the batteries in your home's smoke detectors and test the devices to ensure they work. Replace detectors that are more than 10 years old or that don't work when tested. It's also a good idea to dust or vacuum the detectors while you're up on that stepladder.

Check the pressure and tread of your car tires. Replace or rotate them if necessary. It will make your travels safer and more fuel-efficient.

Change your computer passwords to make your online identity more secure.

Check vitamins and medication in your home and safely discard any that are past their expiration dates.

This should be obvious but ... uh ... reset your timepieces -- appliances, watches, clocks. And don't forget the clock on your car stereo. Careful, though -- some new-fangled devices reset automatically; you don't get two extra hours of sleep.
