TMZ:

The man who witnessed Jerry Sandusky allegedly rape a pre-teen boy in the Penn State locker room in 2002 WILL be allowed to continue as a receivers coach when the team plays Nebraska on Saturday ... this according to the new Penn State head coach Tom Bradley.

Bradley was just officially introduced as Joe Paterno's temporary replacement -- and stated, "Right now Mike McQueary will be coaching on Saturday."

McQueary was a 28-year-old graduate assistant in 2002, when he claims he witnessed Sandusky raping a little boy in the Penn State showers. McQueary reported the incident to Joe Paterno -- but never called police.

Paterno -- who also did NOT go to the cops -- was fired last night for not living up to his moral obligation to the child.

Bradley says he was unsure if McQueary will be coaching from the sidelines or if he will be up in the booth on Saturday.

You guys make 15 threads about Joe Paterno not going to the cops, but no one cares about the guy that actually saw Sandusky nailing a kid?

I agree Jake, doesn't make alot of sense.. Everyone involved in this should be gone.. Only way they can eventually move on is to get rid of everyone from the top on down...

He should have been fired after he threw is first pass in a PSU uniform. He has been trash as player, coach and now human being.

Exactly. It's the best idea/decision that should be made.

Maybe he wasn't good enough to advance as a coach, but had some sort of information about the program that caused them to keep him around...

Of all the public hate and dramatics in this PSU meltdown, the one that I don't understand is the overwhelming hate directed toward McQueary. Whatever your imagination excites about the images that fell on McQueary's eyes in that shower/locker room, unlike other characters in this drama, his brain did register wrongness and he did 'report it'. Yes, maybe he walked away from the fight of his life, but we all have regrets about walking away from fights. Yes the childhood loser in this fight lost his youth and innocence, but McQueary didn't invite himself into this ring. McQueary lost a damn lot too. Screw all these righteous moralistic high horse witch hunters. You have no freaking idea about the pressures and conflicts that compressed down on McQueary's brain back then. Isn't some weird war game with you in the shoot 'em hero role, and we can only hope it won't be some sofa reality internet drama with you sitting as judge.

McQueary is somehow a victim for not involving the cops when he saw it, but Paterno is an asshole for doing the same when he heard it secondhand? I don't get it.

I think Paterno and McQueary both suffer in this drama no matter who they report to. But villianizing McQueary teaches a 'shoot the messenger' logic that ingrains itself into future witnesses to not only walk away, but to also maintain lifelong silence or else be exposed to the hate that McQueary presently endures.

My issue is he didnt knock Sandusky the fuck out as soon as he saw the rape (and if you havent read the grand jury report please do).

I know I am in the minority, but I don't think McQueary should be fired. We all think we know what we would if faced with the situation he was faced with, but in all honesty we dont. I would think that McQueary was in shock as to what he was seeing, and Sandusky was not just any guy, he was almost as much of an "insitution" as Paterno was at Penn State.

We don't know what happened after he went to Paterno. Was he told that he had to keep quiet and not let anything happen to PSU and its reputaton? Was he threatened? His coaching career is now basically over, all because he decided to put away sneakers when he did.

I'm sure he would do things differently now.

McQueary reported it to JoePa who for all intents and purposes runs the entire program there. JoePa and the President covered it up. There is a HUGE DIFFERENCE in those two actions. Put yourself in McQueary's shoes as a 28 year old assistant coach. He reported it to JoePa and JoePa says don't say anything I'll handle this. Days go by and nothing happens... It would have taken huge brass balls for McQueary to have then gone ABOVE JoePa to the police with no support and nothing but an eye witness accusation. The Police question Sandusky, he denies it, the kid doesnt want to talk because he's scared shitless, and McQueary is fired.

Sure, in hindsight it would have been the right thing to do, and I'd like to think I would have stopped Sandusky right then and there, but in real life facts McQueary is far from the worst here.

I have not read the entire grand jury testimony, but from what Ive heard, Paterno knew before this incident in 2002 that this guy had been suspected of molesting kids back in 1998. If he knew then and was told by McQueary what happened in 2002 and still did nothing, then Paterno is the one who deserves what he gets more so than McQueary...

Penn State's Mike McQueary will not coach against Nebraska

Mike McQueary will not be at Penn State's game Saturday against Nebraska due to multiple threats made against the team's assistant coach.

The school made the announcement Thursday night, one day after Nittany Lions coach Joe Paterno was fired with the school shaken by a sex abuse scandal involving former assistant Jerry Sandusky.

The school made no comment about McQueary's status with the team after Saturday.

Here is the complete text of the statement by the school:

Due to multiple threats made against Assistant Coach Mike McQueary, the University has decided it would be in the best interest of all for Assistant Coach McQueary not to be in attendance at Saturday's Nebraska game.

McQueary testified that he saw Sandusky engaged in a sex act with a 10-year-old boy in 2002. He said he reported the incident to Paterno, who then spoke with athletics director Tim Curley.

Curley and senior vice president Gary Schultz have been charged with perjury and failing to report a crime in the case.

Earlier Thursday, Penn State players expressed their support for McQueary, who is the team's receivers coach and recruiting coordinator.

"He's handled it very well. You would've thought nothing had ever happened...it's like that situation never came up," cornerback Stephon Morris. "I want him out there, we need him out there, he has a good heart. A lot of people probably thought he could've done more, but he did what he could and he has a good heart."

Offensive lineman Chima Okoli added that the team is not worried about criticism from the outside regarding McQueary and his role in the case.

"We try to tune it out. Everyone's entitled to their opinion and you can't please everyone," he said. "We're behind Mike 100 percent and he's actually one of my favorite coaches."
