Black Sabbath Surprises No One, Reunites

New album and world tour to come in 2012

On the exact anniversary of the Armistice and where Veterans Day and Remembrance Day across the world is observed to honor our troops, Black Sabbathchose that time to confirm all of this year's crazy rumors that, yes, they are getting back together. What we know so far:

- The classic Ozzy/Iommi/Butler/Ward lineup is back together for the first time since 2006.

- There will be a new studio album, produced by Rick Rubin.

- Sabbath will headline the 2012 Download Festival in England.

- A full world tour is imminent.

It's hard to imagine that the Sabbath reunion will prove to be as creatively reinvigorating for Iommi and Butler as Heaven and Hell with Ronnie James Dio was, and the thought of Ozzy's auto-tune all over a new Sabbath record is a little off-putting, but to be honest, any day the most influential heavy metal band gets back together for one more kick at the can is a very, very good day. Let's just hope they play a few rarely-heard tracks alongside the usual live staples. A couple off Sabotage, maybe?
