I personally am undecided what i think about it. He must have had 1 hell of an interview! I loved him as a player for the cardinals and his enthusiasm, but hire a coach with no experience after wining the world series? :think2:

Just want some thoughts on this if anyone is still paying attention to baseball lol

Also a member of Cardinal Nation. I think Matheny was the "cheap" way to go. Didn't like Francona as a fit, but would have preferred Maddon, from TB. I know they would have had to give up cash/trade for him, but I think he'd be a better fit, and having managed a WS team, it would have been even more helpful. Way past Albert's leaving, but on opening day, we are gonna miss LaRussa. Matheny, hopefully will rely on Dunc and anyone else that can help him with positioning and getting the most from the players and/or bench players to use them at the right time. That's where Tony excelled. Too bad he didn't stay on as a consultant, but I think he knew the writing on the wall and got outta Dodge at the right time. The player I really don't want to lose is Yadi. His contract is up after the 2012 season. With LA Angels not having a catcher that stands out, I see the writing on the wall...............................

Yea i guess only time will tell how Matheny does. I would love joe madden as our manager! Were there ever talks about getting him tho? I never heard anything. Yea i am too over the Pujols leaving to go to LA. Money talks i guess. No one plays for the love of the game anymore apparently. He would have been idolized in St. Louis forever if he re-signed. We cant lose yadi! he and ablert are friends soo i can see what ur saying. Cards wont make that mistake again...I hope!
