Their initial plan after it was clear the season was lost was to put Tebow in so that he can fail and shut the fans the hell up. However, a combination of an easy schedule, tremendous defense, luck, great leadership, late game heroics and ball security has led to Tebow going 5-1. He has played well beyond expectations, but I'd be willing to bet they would have gone 5-1 had Orton been left in.
No one in that organization has any faith in the fact that Tebow is a long term solution at quarterback. During Tebow's brief tenure, the defense has allowed 15, 24, 10, 13 and 13 points. That has more to do with their victories than anything Tebow is doing.
