It is just a cultural bias that Americans have towards eating horses. Meat wise there is not too much difference between a cow and a horse. They sell horse meat in butcher shops throughout Europe.

Story is bogus as always. 99.9% of the meat sold will go to zoos and dogfood. Yes since the usda is inspecting it if you want to sell it to humans they have standards for it but that doesnt mean anyone is going to sell it as such...cept maybe twice a yr when Mickey sells the mcrib...
