A North Las Vegas man who was allegedly gambling on behalf of a limited liability company could face a maximum fine of $1 million and 20 years in prison for causing the Golden Nugget Hotel and Casino sports book to incorrectly file a federal currency transaction report.

Robert Walker, 43, is accused of falsely telling the casino’s Race and Sports Book that he was not gambling on behalf of anyone when he cashed more than $10,000 at the sports book this year, according to the office of Daniel Bogden, U.S. Attorney for the District of Nevada.

Walker was charged in a criminal indictment Tuesday with four counts of causing a domestic financial institution to fail to file an accurate currency transaction report, according to Bogden’s office.

Walker was arrested Wednesday in Las Vegas and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Peggy A. Leen, according to Bogden’s office. Walker was released on a personal recognizance bond pending trial.

Walker allegedly cashed more than $10,000 on March 19, March 20, March 25 and April 3, Bogden’s office said.

Walker allegedly told sports book employees he was not gambling on behalf of anyone when he was gambling and making a cash transaction on behalf of ACME Group Trading LLC, according to Bogden’s office. The transactions totaled $72,020.

Federal law require casinos to report cash transactions of more than $10,000 and to report whether the gambler is gambling on behalf of anyone else, Bogden’s office said. Walker faces up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $1 million if convicted.
