seems like it is over 50% for the general population.

My 26 year old step-daughter is already divorced and hooked up with a new guy with 3 kids ( ages 3,4, and 5) and he never married the mother of these 3 kids, but he is a very successful businessman and a devoted father.

My older step-daughter ( 29) is headed for divorce soon, her husband has a kid by a mother he never married, too....so does his sister.

These are all white people too !

Having a child out of wedlock ( intentionally) is unthinkable to me.

If people now have kids without getting married, a divorce is certainly a lessor, easier matter, I reckon !

What percent of people married in 2011 will eventually divorce ?

Young people aren't even getting married anymore. My wife and I have been together for 8 years with 3 kids. We just now got married so I can get on her insurance. Now we'll have to pay more taxes though.

DOUG, I am very pleased to see you in here tonight because I read something earlier at Slate.com and thought of you

http://www.slate.com/articles/life/...t_want_me_to_find_his_biological_family_.html

(scroll down to second question.....bolded emphasis added by your ol' pal Barman)

Dear Prudence,
I found out entirely by accident that my husband urinates in sinks. He does it not only at home, but in other people’s homes as well. Afterwards, he rinses the sink with water from the faucet, so at least he's making an effort at cleaning after himself. When I spoke to him about it, he responded that it wasn't a big deal, and that he was doing his part to "save water." How do I handle this? Is he really saving water?

—No Flush

Dear Flush,
I’ve known several men who occasionally bellied up to the sink and took a whiz (my husband insists I note he is not among them) so this is not as bizarre as you may think. Because of anatomical requirements, peeing in the sink is a gender-restricted activity, but it’s not really so different from the gender-neutral indulgence of peeing in the shower.

Your husband is right that with a flick of the faucet the evidence is down the drain, and a quick rinse of the sink surely uses less water than flushing. If you’re worried whether this is unsanitary, urine is generally quite germ-free. However, since you don’t mention you’re married to environmental fanatic Ed Begley, Jr., it doesn’t sound like you’re really buying your husband’s ecological argument for his habit.

More likely he does this because it’s naughty. If there’s no evidence he lets it all hang out at more inappropriate venues, let's assume he has a slightly odd relationship with bathroom fixtures. It's one thing, however, to do this at home, but it's not a good idea to do it elsewhere. (That goes for the sidelines at a football game.) Tell him that if someone accidentally walked in on this at a friend's house, the assumption would not be that your husband was a dedicated conservationist. After you've said that, ask him to keep the door shut at home, which will help prevent you from being pissed off about his habit. At least he's not so into recycling that he opens the bathroom window and waters the plants.

The concept originated with me on an airplane, just seemed to work easiest in super tight quarters....

im 34 single no kids....me and my ex broke up about 2 months ago....we were together for little over a year...she wanted me to move into her place in the city....knowing full well after that the next step would have been marriage (she was 33 and made it known she was going on 34 in a couple months and not getting any younger).....i am all set with that...why? b/c unless your madly and let me stress that again MADLY in love with the girl your only gonna get divorced....save yourself the headaches and the money....your life will be a lot simplier with a lot less stress....find a girl who is just content being in a relationship with no pressures of kids or marriage (i cant fathom having to support and raise 1 kid, nevermind 3 in this day and age and economy) or stay single and just date

IMO too many people fall into that first love bullshit...or they fall into (what i believe my ex had) im not getting any younger so i have to settle for this person.....thats the worst thing someone can do....

people need more experience in the field of dating/relationships in general....too many people jump the gun or do stupid things (like mentioned above having a child intentionally, which is ridiculous)....they end up on food stamps or welfare and their lives are over....fuck that shit....

That's kind of where my youngest SD is at , I guess. She never really liked kids very much, but now gets a trio on weekends with her new B/F ( at her house). I don't think she's in any rush to re-marry and the guy has never married.

He owns a bunch of fed-ex contract routes and they live and work together ( maybe too much time together ?). I met his whole family at Thanksgiving all self-admitted losers in life, but this kid was driven to success because of them, he has a 100k BMW parked for the winter plus a fleet of trucks and tons of bikes, jetskis, snowmobiles, etc. and is a self made millionaire at about 32.

im young, 22, and can tell you most people my age arent thinking about marriage. maybe its my group of friends but everyone is just enjoying life. i know a few people that have had kids, and almost all my friends have gotten a girl pregnant (girls are a lot more open to abortions now a days i guess). but the ones with kids never felt pressured to get married just because of the kid. not to make it a racial thing but from what ive seen its the mexicans that get married young and have kids, or get married because of kids. but all my black and white friends with kids havnt talked about marriage, to my knowledge.

Yep, I'm 29 and I've been with my girlfriend for almost ten years now, we have one kid together. I was thinking about maybe getting married, all my friends say I should since I'm the last one of the bunch left. My girl suffered a stroke on super bowl Sunday and is paralyzed on her left side so we haven't even talked about it since then.

Sorry to hear that.

I am 36, and my closest friends are all still single. I think women are much more finanically independent and many people I know don't want kids and they say, what is the point in getting married.

Was married 22 yrs and have 2 boys 15,11 and now doing some internet stuff. Amazing what I am finding out there. Self employed, wealthy and good looking ladies from 38-49. I am 51 and having a great time when they offer to pay for a cruise, nice warm vacation, or insist on buying me nice dinners and gifts. I am not cheap but it sure is nice to be taken care of once in a while. Some rush to the marriage thing and I back off, but for now, just having some fun.

Ive often wondered what the divorce rate is for people that get married in Vegas.

You always hear the 50% divorce rate in our country. I would imagine that rate would be quite a bit higher for those that tie the knot in sin city.

I have every reason to believe it would be much higher as well ( married at Treasure Island myself)....still married but it is a very rocky ride. I knew a guy ( and his bride) when I lived in LV, that lasted 2 weeks !

I think that 50% stat will be more like 80% going forward....as in married in 2012 and beyond and eventually divorcing.

Jobs used to be for life, not no more, same with wives.

I cant help to say to myself "I wonder how long that one's gonna last?" every time I see a bride and groom in Vegas. Im sure there are plenty that work out. But if I was to guess, Id say the divorce rate for people that get married in Vegas is in the 60-75% range. Pure guess.

Anyone know that statistics on what percentage of overall divorces are from people that have been divorced more than once?
