Just makes you wonder if the conference was really hoping they didnt show up today....I mean Houston was set for a real nice payday, and if i'm not mistaken, the conference gets a chunk of that change....it's not often their conference will have a shot at the BCS, and it was all in place this year, til the Eagles showed up in a BIG WAY and took the Cougars' dreams away....

I'm not saying they would ever tell them to lose, but you gotta think they really wanted So Miss to lose the game, so they could cash in on the rare opportunity for their conference.....instead they'll end up with both teams in "decent" bowls, but nothing like the BCS money

Yeah , but arent the BCS bowls and the networks happier ?

If houston had gone to the Sugar bowl they would have sold their full allotment of tickets , but there would'nt have been much commerece , it's close enough the fans could have drove to and fro the game without renting hotel rooms and eating in restaraunts.

If they had gone to the fiest or orange they would have sold 2,500 or less tickets and those would have been mostly family and friends.

...And the networks would much prefer a michigan to a houston. (although there is talk that TCU could now get in and i dont see that being any better)

and the weak east would of loved UC to lay down also :103631605

well in their case, one of their teams gets to go....i know what you're saying, since WV is leaving they would rather they didnt get the bid, but at least the Big East will divvy that check, as they still get a team in a BCS bowl....Conf USA doesnt get anything

Does anyone think that they actually deserved a BCS Bowl ? Ridiculous schedule that Houston had with their top victory over a UCLA team that got slaughtered 50-0 by USC.

oh, i wasnt arguing that point, as i wouldnt feel good about my case...however, i think they definitely would have gotten it had they won today, and especially if they had won convincingly

Do the people who vote on these rankings even watch football? Houston would be dogs to teams ranked 30-35.

It's ridiculous!
