Lew Bush became the seventh member of the San Diego Chargers’ 1994 Super Bowl team to die. He was 42.
The Linebacker, who played seven seasons for the Chargers, had a heart attack, the team said yesterday. The time and place of his death weren’t reported.
Bush, the 99th overall pick of the 1993 draft, also played three seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. Recently, he was a pre-game commentator for the Chargers radio broadcasts.
Other members of the 1994 Super Bowl team who have died are running back Rodney Culver, linebackers Dave Griggs and Doug Miller, defensive tackle Shawn Lee, defensive end Chris Mims and center Curtis Whitley, the Chargers said.
Griggs died in a 1995 car crash, Culver was killed in a 1996 plane crash, Miller was struck by lightning in 1998, Whitley overdosed in 2008, Mims died of an enlarged heart the same year and Lee suffered cardiac arrest Feb. 26, according to the San Diego Union-Tribune.
