murph I go to some sites like that one and its complete confusion...what is the ABC simple direction of what you need to download (what software to play the shows)..what do you need to sign up for? and basically how does it work..

its just a mess of a site to look at first time!

Alright 1968, I'll try and explain how I go about it as simply as possible. Note, this is just how I do it (along with millions of others) so not saying its the absolute best way but it works.

First, you will need some type of "file transferring software" on your computer. I already had Limewire downloaded on my computer back when you used to could download songs off Limewire. While Limewire has technically been shut down, you can still download the software, you just can't search and download songs from Limewire itself (this will make more sense in just a second).

Second, go to the website www.thepiratebay.org. Search whatever movie you want such as "J. Edgar" and several files will pop up. Look for ones that have a lot of seeders and leechers (which will be shown on the website as SE and LE). This just means that: 1. it will download more quickly because a lot of other people are available to download from, and 2. it's safer than others to download from because there wouldn't be a ton of seeders and leechers if it was a virus-infected file.

Third, while at piratebay, look for a file that has comments. Underneath the file info, people are allowed to post comments. If for some reason the file is not truly what it says, somebody will post that it is a "fake" so you can just move on or pick another file.

Note, if you're trying to download a TV series, its easy to search it as Sons of Anarchy s01e12, which stands for season 1, episode 12. Any time you see the user, "eztv" you can trust that user.

I know it sounds scary but I promise if you do your due diligence such as: 1. make sure there are quite a few seeders and leechers, 2. read the comments, it is safe. I have never gotten a virus because I don't download files that do not have comments.

Fourth, when you click on the link, "download this torrent", you will need to select from a list the software "Limewire". It will then begin to download in Limewire.

Finally, you will need to download a device to play the files. The one that works 99% of the time is "VLC media player".

Once downloaded, all you have to do is click the file and choose "locate file." Then, right click on the file and click open with VLC media player. If VLC media player doesn't show up, you can just select from a list of default programs, which is also an option.

This is the exact method I use and it works fine. I watch movies and tv shows. Every week, I download It's Always Sunny, Modern Family, The League, Sons of Anarchy, Boardwalk Empire, The Office, etc... and it works every time.

I've used Hulu in the past and that seems pretty good.

But HULU includes commercial advertising, eh? (albeit only about half the time amount within an hour as over the air broadcast)

I'm to the point where I just cannot sit through much any television with commercial ads included

SECPlayer, thanks for taking the time to compose that summary above.

In most cases (or all...or none) do the downloaded file versions of television programs include the commercial advertising that was within the program from whoever uploaded it?

Echoing my own previous post above, I've become so used to and obviously comfortable with watching television programs via either DVD or commercial free streaming that it's just intolerable to have advertising interuptions

on the forums of that site icefilms.info they tell u how to set it up for your computer using google chrome/firefox/etc and also give instructions how to watch via ipad/android/iphone etc.

I have posted my own explanation here once before.. not sure if a search will be able to turn it up.. but if u read the Tutorials part of their forum there, u will get the most in depth walk through of how to setup everything including pictures as u walk though.

setup should take bout 10 mins tops :)

Here in Costa Rica, I use USTVnow.com. Includes the networks. I presume it works while in the states. I used the free platform for a month and now added more channels for $19.99 month so I can watch games on my iPad when away from home.

Worthwhile!
