anxious to see this one. if you've ever seen the movie "Se7en", this season of dexter is just like it. one of my favorite shows, for sure.

I'm really not trying to be an asshole, but this season is nothing like Se7en. Se7en is the holy grail compared to this season. It was painfully obvious in the 2nd or 3rd episode that Geller was dead.

And the incest angle they just introduced? What the fuck.

Seasons 1-4 were all very, very good and I've stuck with it since the beginning but honestly...I've lost 99% of my interest in Dexter and I think it just needs to end.

no offense taken, sean. there is no connection between the show and the movie via religious murdering? i agree with the incest thing, it was a twist that i didn't care for. they REALLY could've done without that. my favorite season is still the trinity killer though.

I'll be watching just so I can see this season end. Even in a down year, it's still better than 99% of everything else on TV, but when you set the bar high there's usually no where to go but down.

I know it's not technically incest, but if they continue to explore this Deb being in love with Dexter angle I would probably stop watching. There have been many occasions where the show made me feel uncomfortable, but it was always entertaining. If they continue this story line it will be both uncomfortable and not the least bit entertaining for me.

Ok, in terms of religious killing, I see your point. My problem is I literally, LITERALLY, can't stand/loathe every character EXCEPT for Dexter himself on the show. Any time it's a scene of Deb & Laguerda or just Deb or Quinn...I walk away or fast forward.

I'm also quite pissed how Rita & her kids are treated like they were never in the show. They revisit the Trinity stuff but no mention of Cody & the sister? What the fuck?

I also find Colin Hanks to be a very dry and terrible actor and I don't find his Doomsday killer story line interesting at all.

I'm not trying to rant in your thread, I just feel like they've really dropped the ball this season. It's like their grasping at straws.

Trust me, friend, for current TV...if you occupy yourself with:

Breaking Bad
Boardwalk Empire
Shameless
Game of Thrones

Dexter will leave a terrible taste in your mouth when stacked up to the best shows going right now.

Brother/sister thing is really random. Almost seems like an inside joke by cast & writers. "Hey, let's screw with the audience!"

Still one of the best shows on TV, but not a great season.

Dexter escaping from everything, with almost no effort --- getting a bit old. Last week, he's in a boat with gasoline. And he escapes in what, 15 seconds? All that build-up, just for 15 seconds? They dedicated more time to Deb's incest dream.

Overall the finale was not, in a word, good. The sheer amount of convenience that propels the story lines forward is hilarious and excruciating at times. A boat full of illegals, the boat "captain" then trying to rob everyone for Dexter to kill him and then man the boat. Really? He's in the ocean, THE OCEAN, for a night at best and then lucks into being saved.

And apparently coming over and simply walking onto a beach in Florida with your bags and family, in the middle of the day in Miami, no one notices? Like the couple who lets Dexter use their phone. "Oh, here's a white man coming out of the ocean with no shoes, a bunch of illegals around him, but he looks nice enough. Sure mister, here's my cell phone."

And then the sheer stupidity of how Travis gets a hold of Harrison. Nun: "Harrison left with a man in a lion mask. I assumed it was you." Really lady? Because you didn't just watch Dexter in a play wearing a BROWN shirt and khakis and he's only about 20-30 pounds bigger than Travis because of muscle. Travis was in a blue shirt and jeans. And NO ONE in that crowded room of adults/kids saw this STRANGER pick up and put on the lion mask? It was CLEARLY on the table next to Harrison.

The Deb being in love with Dexter is nothing but sheer retardness and I feel like the writers simply went, "Fuck, we're out of ideas for her. We all ready have her sucking at her job, crying and losing her shit in 95% of her scenes, and we can only kill her off or...or...OR have her be in love with Dexter!! Yes!!"

ALL THAT SAID, the final 5 minutes hooked me all over again (these sneaky assholes!) and I will be at least starting the new season.

Yes, the storyline threads in Dexter are increasingly absurd. Yet, I let it slide because it's such a compelling show. This season's cliffhanger was the best yet, in my opinion.

It's also painfully obvious that the geeky video game designer is next season's villain and he's just as freakin' dull as this last Doomsday Killer. It's now clear this show has peaked and peaked SEASONS ago. But Michael C. Hall is such a good fucking actor and keeps Dexter himself interesting, it's hard not to watch.

sean, i also think louis is the next serial killer with the same "ins" that dexter has at miami metro. i'm really hating the deb loving dexter thing, it's pretty stupid. but i am pretty shocked at what happened at the end of the finale, i have no idea where it goes from here. i thought the final scene was good though..."i am a father...a son...and a serial killer."

Yeah, the ending will definitely have me tuning in to the beginning of the new season as I'm sure it will for many people who were ready to write off Dexter, like I was. So kudos to them for that!

In the first book (of the series) Deb actually finds out about Dexter and the first season is nearly identical to the first book. I'm surprised how long the show has waited to have Deb find out, honestly.

Just finished watching it. I agree with everything you said, especially about the last few minutes of the show. DDK walking out with Harrison, the boat coming along, etc had me rolling my eyes, but his speech while DDK was on his table and reaction to seeing Deb was fantastic.
