I needed a 87 on my math final to get an A in the class, I got a 84.... 3 freakin points!!! Worst part is my school uses a strict A,B,C,D and F grading system so my 88.5 gets recognized as a B (80) not even a B+.

I'm sure this will get deleted, I just had to vent.
Work so damn hard to come 3 points shy of an A..... ##) ##)

Fuckin hate that. Can you contact the professor for extra credit before semester closes? Or offer to work for him next semester?

Trust me, go and talk to your professor. Even if you don't I wouldn't be surprised to see an A when semester grades come out. MOST professors are fairly reasonable and approachable people. If you showed up to class most of the time and haven't had any run ins with the professor I would be surprised if he did NOT reward you with an A.

Yeah... go talk to him... if you have great attendance bring that up....

I HATE HATE HATE that +/- BS on grades...

I was a b- king in college and that 2.7 in college instead of 3.0 really sucks.

I hope you get your A, but I have always thought it was stupid when people ask for extra credit. There is no extra credit in the real world.

I know what youre saying... but if I was the professor it shows that you care... and as long as you didn't take the easy route and came to class, I would bump up every student that i liked...

It's true that there is no extra credit in real world. However, bosses do appreciate employees to go above and beyond their regular tasks to make up for their "less efficient" in certain area. Those folks who are being honest about their capability and skill set are often treated fairly well by their bosses.

Well just got back, and the entire campus was closed. You'd think they'd note on the website that all faculty and staff will not be there, but no they say that if you need to access anything at the college you have until 12/23/11 11:59pm....

As far as the extra credit is concerned I've not asked for nor plan on asking for any. I agree that there's no extra credit in real world, which is why I'm just simply asking if my final, or any test that I took this semester could possibly be re-graded.
The majority of math tests are long answer, where you must show your work and partial credit is given at the professors discretion.

I'm hoping that some partial credit points were overlooked.

In the long run i'm truly not worried about it, my grades in all my other classes and the extra time I've put in at the help center each semester speaks for itself. Just temporarily disappointed.

Maryland currently used +/- system but it doesn't effect your gpa so its no biggy. But to be honest with you killar, its annoying to be so close to an A and get a B but in the long run it doesnt matter that much. Job prospects will be around the same either way. But it is annoying as hell to put in the work and come up short. Got an 89.95 and the prof wouldnt hook it up for me before.

Just got my final exam grade for a class and I managed a 130 out of 200. Luckily, I only needed 128 out of 200 to get an A

Grades from many profs are a joke at imo. 10-11 yrs ago I killed a stats final that brought my total grade point to 89.6. Teacher wouldn't give me an A--even after I went and spoke to her and the dean. Best part is-she gave an A to some dude that had made around an 89.4 because he had missed part of the semester because of a family issue or some bs.

Ironically, grades are entirely subjective at the end of the day. You got to know how to rub shoulders beginning with day 1. And funny enough this is also true in the working world. It's not what, it's who.

Yeah the whole teachers discretion thing is a bunch of BS.

Well I finally received an email back from my professor, B stands......
Oh well 3 A's and 1 B, hard work still paid off.

However I'm going to apply for a review of my final so my professor will have to give up time during his Xmas break to travel to the college and go through the review process.
