After watching about 5,000 of the same commercials where someone buys a car X-mas morning (of course while it's snowing) to the point those stupid songs are in my head, do you really know anyone who bought their spouse a car for X-mas? I must hang out with the wrong crowd.

I am sure a lot of people do. Just need the $$$$. I would do it.

I would put the keys in a jewelry box and wrap it up.

My mom bought my dad a Ford F150 Limited Edition about 3-4 xmas ago.....she said she was going to the store to get ice and told us to get everybody outside and she pulled back up in that truck with a big red bow on it. It was a nice truck, all decked out, 4x4 and everything.......anyways, my dad is a simple guy and is impossible to buy xmas presents for, he never needs or wants anything and if he does want something he just goes and gets it himself. All guys in my family including me are the same way. So anyways, my dad is a Chevy guy. Always has driven Chevy 4x4's....so he used the excuse he didn't want an all wheel drive truck and the next day he took the truck back to the ford dealership, went across the highway to the chevy dealership and picked out a Chevy 4x4 All Terrain and that's what he drives today.

those commercials are so gay its unreal,i mean especially the ones where the female is buying the male a lexus or something like that.its just a big joke, they don't really do that and who is going to just spend 40,000-60,000 for christmas on a car for someone.you buy a car when you need it,not like a fake on those tv ads.i hate it,cause for one the female can't afford it anyway, all they do is leach off the male all the time

With the interest rates on new cars so low, in some cases 0%, it pays to NOT pay cash for a car these days.......

IMO it NEVER pays to buy a new car, terrible investment. Even fish's packer investment would be a better one.

My 1998 A4 with 193,000 miles suits me just fine.
I think a lot has to due with me having little to no interest in cars.

It was never my intention to buy my wife a new car but that's pretty close to what happened. I was driving my wife's car taking someone to the airport when the car started slowing down but the engine was doing fine. Long story short... the Tranny went out on her 2002 Honda and it was a $ 3900 estimate. She ended up getting a new 2011 Honda CRV. The only real imput I had in the whole transaction was I insisted on AWD as I'm planning on moving to Oregon and the Mountains bekon !

Yep....my brother in law is in the car business so when my mom bought my dad the xmas truck he informed her to finance it, make the first 3 months of payments which gave them $1000 cash back, and then pay the note off after receiving the money.

i agree buying a brand new car is stupid. i drive a 2000 chevy silverado with 154,000 miles on it, it runs like a champ and its all mine....wife drives a 2010 Camry we bought in may with 19,000 miles, still has warranty and not a blemish on it. Prob saved 6-7k for buying a barely used car vs brand new

This is a perfect example of why no one should by another person a vehicle for Christmas unless they know for damn sure that's what they want. But how many times does that happen when you factor in all the options?
