I didn't really like the original, but will still check this out since its a David Fincher film... In the original I felt like the characters lacked depth, and as BAS says, it was a bit too long for what it was.
i wondered how they could select an unknown for this role, she was fantastic and carried the movie. Mara is the great-granddaughter of both Pit Steelers founder Art Rooney, Sr. and New York Giants founder Tim Mara.
I hate how America doesn't watch a foreign movie unless it's been done by Hollywood. There really was no need for this adaptation. Americans need to learn how to read subtitles.

Personally, reading subtitles all movie is annoying. I prefer to hear things that make sense to me. Ive watched plenty of movies in subtitles and never get the real experience. All americans are dumb and can't read subtitles and no need to adapt any foreign movie because americans cant even appreciate it. So stupid americans are. You are genius man.
Watched all three films in the trilogy streaming on netflix ( still available if anyone with netflix is interested) but I saw Finchers american version yesterday and loved it but it was a bit too long and I did like the original films ending better even though. The Girl who played with fire AND the girl who kicked the hornets nest are the other two on that order.
You could slice it whichever way you want. Take a foreign Film and give it to a Major Studio, Get a Good director, Throw $90 Million into it... Throw in a few Good Actors, etc. You Get a Better Product.
In some cases they Don't do a better job, "The Ring" comes to mind..
Right I understand that sean I was just saying the ending kind of sucked if you're looking at it from a real-life situation.
Crazy or not that girl grew on ya and I think after all she did for him combined with what he already knew she had been through that he would have chosen her...
I liked the movie. For anyone who has read the other books of the sequel; do they go more in depth with the "rapist pig" and Henrik's reaction? Or is it a totally different story line.
