There are no other contenders.

The Mavs will not make it back to the Finals.
The West has many contenders.
Top 4 in no particular order:
OK City
LA Clippers
Denver
Memphis.

The Mavs, Lakers and Spurs will be hard pressed to gain 1st rd home court for playoffs.

Depth will be even more important. Teams will only have 12-18 practice days this season. Tonight will be the first example as the Lakers play for the third straight night.
