yesterday I go on line to research and shop for a new printer for my office, no big deal, will be buying one soon

I go to a UConn sports forum and they have sponsor space on the right hand side of the screen which I simply ignore. Today, the sponsor was Staples running ads for 3 of the printers I looked at yesterday

do these sites really interact with each other like that? or was this a fluke?

Then you go to a site or even Email ( yahoo does this ) There's an Ad on what you were Looking for.

Those printer ads that were served to you were likely through the Google's ad service, called Google AdWords. Google delivers ads to websites based on the content of the sites as well as the data it has collected about you (e.g. Google searches). Also, if you use Gmail, you'll notice ads that are related to the content of your emails.

Yep....and those create often bemusing correlations

Several of the websites I frequent which promote reform of marijuana laws for example have the google ad spots & we'll see, "Problems with marijuana use? Comtact the ABC drug treatment program!"

I keep getting ads for bondo,duct tape, and spray paint.

Somehow they must picked up on the fact I was looking at doing some home repairs?

brake repair, weather striping, hole repair in hoses & body panels.

I buy it by the case.
