3 days without food, lost 3 pounds, not hungry, no negative side effects, how difficult can this be? Even easier than winning at gambling

i've gone 3 days now without food, and have lost about 3 pounds, with a goal to lose another 2 or 3 and keep it off forever,
IOW permanent removal of "beer belly".

i haven't felt hungry or had any side effects.

the liquids i've consumed have been:

coffees [2-3 per day] with at most a half glass of skim milk
juices, including red grape, apple, orange, carrot, as much as i want, maybe 3 glasses a day
water, less than a glass per day
alcohol, 2 bacardi breezers [275 ml, 5.6% alcohol] on the first day

tomato and grapefruit juices are not recomended on a juice fast from what i've read

i may continue with the liquid fast after today or start into some light foods like soups, apple sauce, watermelon and the like

Drinking alcohol on an empty stomach is not a good idea. There's nothing there to absorb it

Most people realize that drinking alcohol on an empty stomach should be avoided because it leads more quickly to intoxication. But what most people don’t realize is what a big difference drinking with food in the stomach can really make.

For example, Swedish researchers had a group of people consume a few drinks after an overnight fast. The next day they had the group consume the same amount of alcohol in the same amount of time after eating a modest breakfast. After having breakfast, the group had a much lower average blood alcohol level --- only 75% of the BAC reached when drinking on an empty stomach.

Things that slow down intoxication include drinking more slowly and eating food -- especially proteins, fats and dense carbohydrates. Things to be avoided because they speed up alcohol absorption include carbonated drinks and warmer drinks, both of which are absorbed faster.

these extreme diets are dangerous and lead to binge eating....moderation in eating is the key along with exercise

Which begs the question, what's wrong with being lead "more quickly to intoxication"? Or why should that be avoided?

Is fasting necessarily a "diet" if one does it occasionally or no more than one day per week, as the extreme majority of fasters do, i believe?

How is "moderation" different from "fasting" or "extreme diets"?

If you eat "breakfast" are you breaking a fast?

BTW, during my liquid, non food 3 day fast i've exercised much as normal, around 30 minutes walking a day. I walk at about 2-3 times
the speed of the typical pedestrian.

As so many Americans are overweight & have poor diets, it could be argued that their common diets leads to many problems.

What should i expect? As noted i may start on light solid foods on day 4. If so, i hope to continue losing weight
following the intended plan, such as mentioned above, though at a slower rate.

BTW it is now about 1.5 hours into the fourth day.

1) yes, you are breaking 13 hour (give or take) fast from your previous evenings meal.

2) on the average, a 35 year old male in decent shape walks 3.3 MPH, which I believe is pretty accurate, because I can walk downtown (mile and a quarter) in 20 minutes if I had to.
Now, at 6 MPH, one is considered 'jogging', so my guess is you can probably walk at a sustained rate at 4.5 MPH

3 days of no food and you only lost 3ibs? Dang you must eat like a bird. I've gone a couple of days with just eating salad and crackers and still lost around 5lbs.

What's wrong with your life that made you want to stop eating food? We all have some sort of beer belly...

I don't get these "fasts." I'd rather just eat right consistently and exercise semi-regularly to maintain the appearance I want than starve myself.

I should get a speedometer at a bike shop, or would some watches have this ability, just out of curiosity, as to how fast i walk? At my normal rate i'm constantly zooming past at least 95% of the people.

What i forget to mention in the OP is my continued daily intake of supplements during the liquid fast, namely around 1000 mg calcium, 1000 mg fish oil for omega 3, glucosamine sulphate, and a multivitamin.

At over 50 years i eat quite a bit less than when i was 16, though my weight hasn't changed much.
Starting the fast 130 lbs and shooting for 125, which i figure will be the flat stomach number. On
the first weighing on day 2 with the alcohol consumed i was down 0.4 kg, and 24 hours later w/o
drinking booze another 0.9 kg.

I don't know, but maybe a hooker's comment on my fat gut was the cause that set the ball rolling. Shaving
my legs might be next on the "self improvement" agenda ;

Presently i've been drinking a chicken noodle soup and downed a spoonful of noodles. After having two drinks.
I wonder what the scales will say tomorrow.

I can't speak for others, but in my case it's a very quick fix. And it worked. What remains to be seen is if it can be maintained
without having to return to the liquid fast again. I guess i'll need to change my regular diet, maybe cut back on bread or booze,
or exercise a bit more.

Whether or not a regular practice of fasting can be beneficial or not is another and interesting subject. I certainly have not
felt i've "starved" myself, let alone hungry for these 3 days +.

Please don't tell me you weigh 130lbs and you're worried about your weight?
