Iowa may have the 6th lowest unemployment in the nation but a large percentage are low-paying jobs.
As far as Des Moines being the richest metro in the country this is only according to cost of living and only is considered because they don't have any slum areas dragging them down. Most large cities have those areas but it's not like you ever go into them.
