##):103631605$$:($$I heard on the news that the U.S. Treasury is considering getting rid of the $1 bill permanently and stepping up use of a $1 coin to replace it...the thinking is that this will save the government a lot of money because, although it's more expensive to make a coin than a bill, coins last 30 years and a bill lasts two years so in the long run the coins will be much cheaper to use

Well, my question is this: if this happens, what will we do when we visit strip clubs? there won't be $1 bills any more so stick in the stripper's g-string or throw at them...what are we supposed to do? use $5 bills? that will get costly fast...stick coins in their g-string? they'll fall out... throw coins at them? they might get hurt or throw them back at us and hurt us...don't give them anything? yeah, the clubs will like that

Canada used to use $1 and $2 bills but got rid of them a few yrs back and replaced them with $1 and $2 coins, so I would like to ask any Canadian readers who have patronized a strip club, what is the procedure in the Canadian strip clubs? Do the patrons use $5 bills to tips the strippers or $1 coins or something else?##):howdy::grandmais

coins work , they even have cool games you can play. One of my favorites involves 2 spread legs , a magnet and the tossing of coins. Stick the magnet win a prize lol

I suppose we'll see strippers wearing coin-changer belts like the carhops at Sonic. And requiring customers to warm up cold coins before dropping them in the slot... so to speak.

Sorry to burst the bubble but you heard wrong.

The government is actually recalling a certain percantage of the $1 coins they made because they're sitting in banks. Nobody wants them.

The only way a coin system will be created is if it consists of silver or gold.

History had a strange way of repeating itself.

not quite correct, no "recall" but they will stop making anymore ( except a few for collectors, which will be sold at a profit). The gov't has been farting around with small size dollar coins since 1979 ( The Susan B Anthony $, then the Sacawagea and dead prez dollars). They won't eliminate the dollar bill anytime soon..... that wouldn't be good for re-election purposes.

U.S. Suspends Production of Presidential Dollar Coins, Saving $50 million/year

Consumers have so far resisted the use of dollar coins

Despite the U.S. government’s best efforts, consumers have resisted efforts to get them to adopt dollar coins.
Now, Vice President Biden and Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner have announced the U.S. Mint will suspend the production of Presidential dollar coins for circulation.
This is being done as part of the Obama Administration’s Campaign to Cut Waste, given that nearly 1.4 billion surplus dollar coins are sitting in Federal Reserve vaults due to lack of demand for the coins.
By halting this unnecessary production, the Administration will save taxpayers at least $50 million per year in production and storage costs.
The Vice President made today’s announcement at a Cabinet meeting focused on the President’s commitment to cut waste and eliminate misspent dollars across the Federal government.
At the end of the most recent fiscal year, the Federal Reserve Banks held nearly 1.4 billion surplus dollar coins in their vaults – enough to meet current levels of circulating demand for more than a decade.
Based on current trends, the Federal Reserve estimates that its surplus inventory of $1 coins will grow to 2 billion by the end of the program in 2016.

The unneeded coins can't really be recalled because of something known as seignorage.....It looks good on the books when you "make" a dollar for 30 cents or whatever, a theoretical profit.

This is why the USPS makes so many different commemorative stamps, they love people that buy sheets of stamps with bugs bunny or anything on them ....and never use them, but still not enough to solve their problems.

Casinos love people that take home chips, too !

lengthy link..... but the short version is above

I'm posting from a phone right now but later on or tomorrow I'll post a link to the article I was referencing.
All production has been haulted and a certain percentage have been "re-called" from banks due to lack of interest.

It was on Yahoo a few weeks ago. They may not be correct but their article seemed to make sense.

that just means the banks won't likely have them on hand and the coins will be stockpiled in vaults, but they won't be getting destroyed, just stored.

Trying getting rolls of half dollars from your bank, few have more than a few loose coins. They stopped making them around 2002, except for collectors.

When I was in Toronto they gave Loonies ($1 coin) and Toonies ($2 coin) as change and they fit in a g-string quite well.

Actually in mine you dont charge anything to your actual credit card. You come in and buy units and have your club card scanned...every single service can be put on your in house debit card

I don't want to go home with a CC that smells like Ass, so I don't like the idea of swiping the card between the cheeks of their ass.
Went to a strip club once and went up on stage and gave the chich a Dollar coin and the Bitch thought it was a quarter and threw it back. She looked pissed. What a bimbo.
