I haven't been a huge reader in the past...

Only author I really got into was John Grisham....

I was flipping through Itunes the other month and discovered he had a new book, I got the audio book to listen to when I was traveling. I loved it and it got me back into reading..... well and listening....

I need some suggestions..... No self help, poker, or teaching books...

If you have something I may like let me know... I've never tried comedy books so I don't know how i would feel about them...

ready for some suggestions... reading material and some listening material....

Try The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Download the sample and you will be hooked and buy the ebook.

Also 11/22/63 by Stephen King, about time travel to prevent the JFK assassination.

This. Also read The Dome by Stephen King, excellent book.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series is pretty good, I've read the 1st two.

Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan series. Clancy is fairly right wing and jingoistic, and sometimes the writing is a little simple, but he's an excellent storyteller. I always enjoy how he brings multiple actions together in his books.

Just about anything by Elmore Leonard is a good read.

If you like mysteries/thrillers, James Patterson Alex Cross series is very good, as is just about anything from Michael Connelly.

Any suggestions for somebody who only really reads non-fiction?

The Ice Man: Confessions of a Mafia Contract Killer

Philip Carlo (Author)

Also read The Innocent Man by John Grisham, which is the actual account of a true story about a guy who was arrested, tried and convicted of a crime he did not commit. It's very good.
