You deal with this by giving visiting team supporters their own section, where you are tossed out if found to be rooting for the home team.

European soccer leagues figured this out decades ago, so why can't the NFL?

Many years ago, I'd occasionally go to an opponent's stadium decked out in the visitor garb, but not anymore. I have no need to draw attention to myself, and it's just not worth the aggravation. If I venture into enemy territory now, I just wear something neutral. It usually takes the people around you half the game to figure out that you are cheering for the wrong team- if they do at all.

Anyone who has been to major sporting events knows that if you go to a big game wearing the opposing teams uniform, you will be harassed.

You don't go to OSU - Michigan, Alabama Auburn, New England NY, Chicago GB, etc in the visitors colors unless you want to be harassed. I watched a girl from U Mich be stripped to her panties at OSU one year and I watch guys 30 years ago rip Steelers jackets off 3 peoples backs and then bbq hot dogs over them.

I've been to many opposing games but am smart enough to simply go in benign colors. It's simple common sense. If I go alone to a Pats Jets game in NYC or an OSU mich game in Mich I'm not wearing OSU or Pats clothes. If I go with 2 daughters I'm surely smart enough not to do this. That is one retarded dad.

This. Everyone is paying money to go these games and you should be able to enjoy a sport event with friends or family without worry of harassment or violence.

It's a fucking game people...

True .....I have noticed people take " their team " a little serious .
I could come on to forums and talk about poster's wife's and get them less upset then if you say ( insert team ) suk or ( insert coach ) should be fired .

People do take this way too seriously. They ran a story this past week on the local news about how they will have 4 special medical units set up at Gilette to help treat people who might have a heart attack at the Pats game due to stress. The story went on the cite some study that showed up to two weeks after a "big game" there was a rise in heart attacks -even if the team won!
