mind you i am not some huge nickleback fan, but i dont have to turn off the radio when one of their songs come on or flip out when they are going to perform live at an event or show. the way people act about them you think it was rebecca black singing friday for 5 straight hrs or some shit.

I'd rather listen to Rebecca Black than Nickelback. They just seem like pompous douches, their lyrics are garbage, and I find his voice to be excruciating.

That said, I listen to hardcore punk so people can talk the same amount of shit on my music as I can on Nickelback. Just different strokes for different folks.

It sounds like the singer is taking a dump when he sings. The ONLY time that I listen to this dreck is when I am in a captive environment where the song comes on the sound system (generally the jukebox), and I can't run. That 'Rockstar' song of theirs induces homicidal thoughts in me (and seems to be the most popular with drunks on the jukebox...)

Pretty much what I was going to post before you posted it, I do like that song Rock Star song they did though, everything else is pretty much garbage.

I do like Matchbox 20 though, some say Rob Thomas is fruity, don't care.

When they first came out I was in high school, and I immediately determined that they were absolute shit. Just ask anyone who works somewhere with a top 40 radio station on all the time who has to listen to that jackass lead singer who sounds exactly the same on all their shitty songs- it would drive me crazy.

To be honest, they totally changed their sound after the first two albums. Totally unlistenable to me now.

I don't claim to know anything about rock music, but I don't mind Nickleback....

I noticed the hate for them about 4 years ago.... but I am usually slow to things like that.. doesn't matter to me... I like what I like and people don't like what they don't like

MATTHEW GOOD BAND, CREED, STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, OFFSPRING, METALLICA, just a few that blow Nickelback out of the water. Don't even get me started on Def Leppard, Van Halen, etc from the classics. Nickelback sucks.

Rock and roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world.

--Patrick Carney, The Black Keys

If you want real rock and roll from new bands, listen to The Black Keys and Black Country Communion, or even Band of Skulls, Them Crooked Vultures or Cage the Elephant. Those bands do not suck.

Listening to a Nickelback song is like having your earhole sodomized.

Yes, I agree. I downloaded everything from The Killers onto my Zune a few weeks ago. I liked Hot Fuss but kind of forgot about them after that but have recently re-discovered them. They are great.

Patrick Carney's full quote is worthy of posting:

Rock and roll is dying because people became OK with Nickelback being the biggest band in the world. So they became OK with the idea that the biggest rock band in the world is always going to be shit - therefore you should never try to be the biggest rock band in the world. Fuck that. Rock and roll is the music I feel the most passionately about, and I don't like to see it fucking ruined and spoon-fed down our throats in this watered-down, post-grunge crap, horrendous shit.
