So Why Are So Many On The Giants?

Now I love my Giants, and hope they win the SB as I have a +750 future on them which I'll probably hedge a little bit. But this is very similar to the 2008 SB where tons of money came in on the Giants ML no matter how low it went. And we were talking about going against an 18-0 team at the time. So why so much love for the Giants, when the Pats definitely have the revenge factor in their favor? They beat the Pats in that Bowl game, and they beat them again this year in week ten. Could it be that they are just the better team? Some lines are down to 2.5 and falling!

I've been asking myself the same thing. I have not heard one person say they loved the Pats.

I'll agree with this, but let's not forget the Patriots have won every game they have played since they lost to the Giants early this season.. so that means they are pretty hot too. I was looking at some stats, both team offense and defense as well as some individual.. these teams are very close on measurables. Should be a great game... in 2007 BB got outcoached by Coughlin. Should be interesting to see what happens in 2012.

Also, the Giants were hot in the playoffs in 2007 but lets not forget the Pats were going for an undefeated season, so all the pressure was on the Pats in 2007 but I still think all the pressure is on the Pats again in this super bowl to get revenge for 2007 & this seasons loss.

i imagine its just the Giants are viewed as a complete team.... offense and defense... and its pretty joe public talk to say Patriots don't have defense.... that's my guess

1. Ya they beat some tough teams after they played the giants, how many teams were better than .500 ?

2. Thank you for your honest opinion, Im sick of hearing pats fans whine about the giants only winning because of one catch.

Hey man... it's tough to win in the NFL. Any time you can reel off 10 straight wins, its impressive. They beat the Jets on the road, Eagles on the road, Denver (a playoff team) twice, and Baltimore.. all those teams have talent. They are 15-3.. for all the talk about how good the Giants are, let's not overlook the Patriots because of their schedule. I agree that the Giants are playing great football right now but let's face it... if Kyle Williams doesn't muff two punts that lead to 10 points in a very close defensive game, they aren't even part of the question here. Let's respect both teams that have made it this far.

But the schedule is a big factor. You say the Giants needed two muffed punts to win, didn't NE need a shanked chip-shot to win? Last week was the first team with a winning record that NE beat all year. If Gronk isn't 100%, I wouldn't want to be on them. I think a lot of NE money will roll in this week now that it's under 3.

Right now the ML and 2½ favors the Giants. If by chance it goes back to 3½ then this will favor the Patriots.
The key is to watch the ML.

The one factor to is not all books opened at 3½. Caesars in Vegas opened at 3.

The ML isn't always correlated in the SB. Many people will play the dog ML and not the points. Books messed up not opening at 3 IMO.

Thanks Bagiant, now you've got me thinking. Revenge will certainly be a factor, especially for Belichick and Brady. And the fact that Vegas will take a bath if the Giants win, helps build a case for a play on the Pats. After all, how many times have we heard the story, "Vegas is breathing a sigh of relief this morning. If Team X would have won, sportsbooks would have taken a beating"? As always, the house almost never loses.

Articles of big NY futures are sure sexy but i guarantee there are a awful lot of NE futures, far more than the brief moments the NY prices were that high. Really no different than the Cardinals when they were getting huge prices vs the Phillies. There had to be far, far more Phillies futures (and at far bigger amts) than the Cards. This SB will not bring LV to its knees unless they get crushed on props in an OVER game.

To even think one wants to bet on NE because LV needs them and the house rarely loses is not real smart thinking. They lose too.

I have NY +3300 and +3000 and NE +675 in futures. I will play some props, mainly whoever Edelman will be covering. If I were playing this straight, I would have played NY at anything over 3, but that is long gone.

Love the avatar Holmes.
