I have been doing alot of work on people investing in rental properties and find scrap metal all the time.

I also do some forclosure property preservation work (I cut and cleanout the yards). I find more in scrap metal than the banks are paying me to do the job.

I also just started going into the houses to take pics for the cleanouts. I have found money just laying on the floors of all the rooms and people leave all kinds of things behind. Why if you are so broke that you lose the house yet leave all your shit and leave money just laying on the floor.
People are lazy and stupid

Sounds like a good deal to me. Are there a few metal recycling companies near your location?

wow how do you make bids for stuff like that? How do you advertise for things like that. This is something that I would be very interested in.

I knew the contractor personally. I just approached him and asked...offered him $500 bucks to let me come in over the weekend and grab everything I wanted...he agreed to it as I was doing him a favor by getting rid of all the stuff that was going to come out anyway. As far as advertising for it - I have thought about it, but most people know what they have and scrap it out themselves - or they want so much for it that it just isn't feasible. I always take the scrap copper from my plumbing jobs if the owner allows me too. That shit adds up really fast.

$2 a pound right now. LOL I never find copper. Not in Detroit I go in these forclosed houses and everything is gone. In the burbs houses stay intact. I find car batteries and you can get $8 each. Brass, alumn, copper, stainess steel is all more than general scrap. 10c a pound for general scrap.

But the thing is I need to get it off the property anyway. would be real stupid not to turn it in for money
