Will I get hammered with roaming charges or whatever if I use my cell phone for calls or text messages while on vacation in Mexico?? Probably should just turn the phone off, but may need to stay in touch. Didn't know if anyone had any experience with this or not .... I have Verizon wireless service. Thanks in advance for any replies.

not sure about verizon, but AT&T has a Viva la Mexico plan that is very inexpensive to use phone while you are in Mexico.

Also,Another one of my friends mentioned Facebook as an option when i went to mexico recently. There is a new feature called Facebook Messeneger which would give you a texting ability wihout paying the outrageous rates they normally charge. Ive seen people use it here in the states but i guess it would work in Mexico as well. Luckly my company pays phone so I didnt really care about the extra fees.
