requiring jai alai or dogs is stupid in order to have a poker room. Jai alai with a two man roster is a mockery, like racing the same two dogs ten times a day !

It was probably 15 years ago, but I can actually make the claim that I've been inside those doors. Nonetheless, several establishments that take simulcasting or operate other means such as "poker rooms" are doing the minimum requirements to lawfully keep their license. It typically isn't so blatant, but this is the most blatant example of that I've ever heard of.

That is true Shorty. In Mississippi for example to get a casino license you had to be on water. As a result the one's in Tunica literally dug trenches for their barges to sit on. It may have changed now after Katrina, point is doing the minimum necessary to get a license is nothing new, been around forever.

how about this...when NL poker really started in FL they werent allowed to have an ATM in the same building as the poker room...you would have to get on a shuttle and go to the nearest gas station to get more money..that was a compromise the poker rooms had to make to get NL passed

The handle must be like zero dollars and Chris and Jud are probably amateur level players that can't make the roster at a places like Miami or Dania. Making such a mockery of this great game is a Sin.

two amateurish guys playing each other game after short point game, and you expect people to bet on it ?

It doesn't get any lower than this !

Back in the glory days of jai alai you had 40-50 man rosters...

Here is a clip of good jai alai singles play....

Doug you are missing the point. They do not care if people bet on them. They want the poker rake money. They are not worried about much else

why require jai alai or dogs at all, I'm not missing the point ! Do it California card room style.

Florida has stupid laws, you have to have live jai alai to have a poker room... WHY ?

let jai alai die a dignified death, at least....two amateurs playing singles to 5 points against each other with no bets is a joke !

yes, I went there but did not play, I lack equipment and am too old too play, again. Matt D is a good guy, talked to him for a good hour in person. He is a USPS carrier and did that and played pro jai alai for a couple of years ( strike and beyond) in Hartford.

I'm not sure how profitable it is for Matt, but I think he just wants to break even on it and provide a court ?

well former pros, I bet they are better than Jud and Chris !

I don't see how you can't have at least a 3rd guy there in case of injury, no show, etc.

who is the sub player ? maybe throw in a poker dealer like 5 team parlay ?

I live in Ocala and wonder why I haven't seen any ads for live jai-alai. Now I know why. The Ocala poker room is fairly busy so they have to do what they have to do. But the big glaring problem is this state and their laws most of which are a joke for the gambling industry. They just postponed the "resort casino" bill to allow 3- $2BILLION casinos/resorts to be built in South Florida because of the lobbying by dog tracks, horse tracks, and card rooms, not to mention DISNEY, saying it is unfair. What is unfair is not creating 100's of millions of dollars in revenue and thousands of jobs. I can not go into all that bothers me with this state but what we desperately need is some reason for people to want and come visit except to die and see Mickey! We need businesses to want to do biz in Florida and the state to become relevant again. I will stop here...
