So now that Peyton's Dr.s have said he is cleared to play in the NFL, what is going to be in Irsay's statement about Peyton? He already Twittered that the teams doctors haven't cleared him yet.

Do we really think that they are going to release Peyton? 28 million is a lot of bucks to pay for a QB that hasn't shown he is healthy enough to play yet. But then again, Saints took a gamble on Brees when the Chargers released him. Guess we'll find out later!

I wish that he would just cut the crap and say "Look, we are not paying $28 million to keep Peyton around. He's been great for us and we wish him well, but we have the opportunity to draft arguably the best QB prospect since Peyton. We will be building around him. Case closed."

I'm tired of all the posturing from both camps. There is no way that the Colts would hand that kind of money to a guy who could have his career ended with one bad hit.

But isn't that the case for almost any high profile...highly paid player. Could sign a contract and get into a car accident the next day. Or a big hit in the first quarter of the first game of the season....like Brady.

Point taken, but how much did they pay Manning last season, and he didn't throw a pass? I really don't think that anyone can tell with certainty how the neck is going to stand up until he takes some hits with it. I'm sure these fusion surgeries work great for guys who aren't at risk of getting whipped to the turf by 280 pound defensive ends. Yes, Manning's surgeon says he's good to go, but I'd expect that.... too much cash at stake. Bottom line, all that it would take is one 'setback' in training camp to shut him down for good.
