Recruit snubs Clemson on National Signing Day over lack of Chick-Fil-A

Four-star recruit Cassanova McKinzy had a tough decision to make on National Signing Day as the 6-foot-2 linebacker prospect had whittled down his choices to Auburn and Clemson, guaranteeing that whatever his choice, he would be playing for a team named the Tigers. In the end McKinzy went with Auburn over Clemson for all the usual reasons, plus one tasty, mouth watering, waffle fries related one.

Like a lot of folks, Cassanova loves him some Chick-fil-A, and Auburn just so happens to have one of the restaurants right there on campus, while Clemson does not (or so he thought), which weighed heavily in McKinzy’s decision process.
Said the Auburn signee…
“(It was) kind of the environment and plus they had no Chick-Fil-A on campus,” McKinzy said of his decision to not attend Clemson. “You had to go like, probably like 15 minutes off campus to go to like a real restaurant. Their café was kind of small.”
But it seems McKinzy didn’t do his homework, or received some erroneous information, because Clemson does in fact have a Chick-fil-A on campus, and apparently it’s the bomb. Maybe recruiters should include the restaurant during their campus tours, just so this sort of situation doesn’t come up again.

Some players choose their schools with their hearts, some with their heads, and some go with a gut feeling. Cassanova McKinzy went with his gastrointestinal tract, which seems as good a reason to pick a football program as any.

As a footnote, try and guess which two teams will meet in next year’s college football opening weekend Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at the Georgia Dome? If you didn’t say Auburn and Clemson, then you may have brained your damage.

Auburn got a couple of last minute high grade defections in the closing days before sign-up day. Can you say NCAA violations coming?????? Probably a good bet....

Probably not. Auburn came out of the Cam Newton fiasco untouched, which was the most blatant cheating I have ever seen.
Basically, the NCAA said that parents are allowed to offer their children to the highest bidder (literally) and as long as the kid claims ignorance, its technically not a violation. Complete bullshit. Ever read the NCAA rule book? You can't so much as borrow a shoelace from a university without it being a violation but somehow this was a loophole. NCAA will always protect its moneymakers.

The common joke in SEC territory is that everytime the NCAA starts sniffing around about an Alabama or Auburn violation, that UAB should be the one worried because they're not going to touch Bama or Auburn.

Clemson has not eaten chicken for a couple of years now as South Carolina has been the victor in the rivalry game in SC. I am sure the clock cleaning Clemson got at the Orange Bowl really did not add to the young mans opinion either.
