Okay so I really wasn't sure what to name the thread.

Apparently the CIA loves Facebook because their work is made a hell of a lot easier. They can just go through people's facebook accounts. Look into people's friends' lists, check their activities, posts, religious beliefs, photos, etc. It makes it so easy for them to spy on us and our daily lives.

Why are people so obsessed with facebook? I don't buy the bs that it is because it helps them keep in touch with their friends and relatives. You have the phone and get togethers for that. Do you really need to know john or jane's mundane, day to day routines? ''Oh lordy, so and so's pet did the cutest thing today'' or ''I got a haircut today! but it was a little crooked!'' I mean shut the hell up. Who cares.

I think the real reason is because people think they are some sort of celebrities posting their pics online and having people look at their pages and their idiotic status updates. That's all it is. Attention seeking.

Anyways, getting back to the point. The CIA apparently uses facebook a lot to check on people. They of course tap into other sites you use and shit but fb is by far the most hacked by the CIA.

A lot of people if not most have privacy settings to make sure their info isn't available to the public. Some people only want those on the friends' list to know about their matters but the CIA/american government believes they have the right to snoop into those people's accounts too the sorry bastards that they are.

News flash. Facebook is a global wide entity not just North America. So you would not want your government doing anything they could to check on possible terrorists/criminals/spies living outside the United States looking to do harm against U.S. persons or interests? Who says the CIA is interested in Americans?

When Islamists took over Iran in the 70's they were able to kill thousands because of their political views in just a few days. The CIA told them who their opponents were.
When N.Vietnam took over at the end of the war they killed as many as 1 million political opponents virtually overnight....They had a network of informers inside the South that kept the info on who their opponents were.....
Information is very valuable to the new world order.............

two ways the government has been tracking people online: Citizenship and Immigration’s surveillance of social networks to investigate citizenship petitions and the DHS’s use of a “Social Networking Monitoring Center” to collect and analyze online public communication during President Obama’s inauguration.

leading up to President Obama’s January 2009 inauguration, DHS established a Social Networking Monitoring Center (SNMC) to monitor social networking sites for “items of interest.”

among the key “Candidates for Analysis” were general social networking sites like Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and Flickr as well as sites that focus specifically on certain demographic groups such as MiGente and BlackPlanet, news sites such as NPR, and political commentary sites DailyKos. According to the slides, SNMC looks for “‘items of interest’ in the routine of social networking posts on the events, organizations, activities, and environment” of important events

The information that can be viewed by government (or anyone else) on Facebook has been agreeably posted by the page owner, so there is no "privacy" being invaded.

Then what's the point of the privacy settings on fb? Where you can choose who exactly can see your profile and who can't?
