I am 73 & have used regular soda pop almost all my life, sometimes drinking 5-6 a day in the summer time & do not miss it one damn bit, as i drink bottled water sometimes flavoring it & usually drink a 12oz. can of Bud Light every evening. My glucose count is about 125-128, borderline diabetic i believe & i do not want to start taking any meds for being a diabetic. I am due back in march sometime for another blood test to check my glucose again, i have been using wheat bread for about 6 mo's or so, eating at subway & have stopped eating french fries. I have used milk for about 2-3 yrs now along with lo-fat butter, i have also recently cut out chips, as i used to eat lo-fat Lays chips, also for about 2 years been eating Triscuit Garlic crackers, YUM YUM, & eat a lot of different kinds of chicken with veggies & salads & hardly any red meat other than maybe a lunch meat sandwhich sometimes, i know that is not good, lol but will try to stop eating that. When i go grocery shopping i am now looking at the nutrition labels & trying to figure the labels out as to what is healthy, i will learn the nutrition labels someday.

I am eating much healthier too. Lost 43 pounds since Sept 1

Good for you, that's great keep it up, but i am not over weight as i am 6ft tall & weigh 187-190lbs & have no excessive weight around my waist.I am just trying to live/eat healthier & intend on starting to walk 2-3 miles daily as soon as the weather breaks here in the next month or so.I have a little heart murmur that the Doc says is a valve being pinched by a muscle that cause me to get light headed sometimes & some shortness of breath when i get pretty active, so he mentioned a stress test before starting the walking for more exercise, but he has been treating it with 420mgs of propanolol for the past 5 years or so, also take 20mg of lisiniprol twice daily to keep my BP under control

I try to cut out soda about once a month. Usually make it 3-4 days. Get headaches from the lack of caffeine usually. Longest i went was a month

Sure world number:

So starting September 1st Cut out: Soda, beer, junk food, and all fast food
1. I also did serious portion control. Just eat enough each meal not over ate.
2. Drank really just water with lemon
3. Every time i was hungry at night eat grape fruit or another fruit

To start September 1st was 254
Lost 23 just following those rules up top.

After that i started walking and running combo walk one mile run a half mile. Doing about 10-12 miles a week. Still following the rules.
Lost another 20 pounds that way
Currently between 210-213 depending on when i weigh myself. Morning is always the best

Was not hard for me to quit,i quit cold turkey & just starting drinking flavored water & now i do not even flavor it that often, along with drinking a beer at night,no problem here but everyone is different. Back in the day about 30 years or so ago, i also quit smoking & drinking at the same time, so i quit going into bars/clubs so as not to be around the beer/scotch as cigs/booze go hand in hand, also luckily the office where i worked no one smoked so that helped me a lot, you just got to want it,gl.

Keep trying, don't give up, you can do it. I know everyone is different, but if i did it after drinking it for over 67 years or so, you can.

sparticus

I stopped drinking soda approximately 20 years ago. I drink bottled water, about 4-6 small ones per day. We buy approximately 10 cases each time we need to replenish our supply. Blood sugar is low as well as my cholesterol.

My diet consists of mainly poultry and fish with a little red meat once in awhile. Vegetables include lettuce, carrots and celery and carbs basically from cereal and flax seed bread.

Boring but healthy. Keep up the good work my friend!

I also am going to try to stop drinking the shit is so bad for us. I figure I can cut tht out and eat like I do I will drop 12 lbs and that all I am concerned about. Also just think of the money you save from not stopping and getting a pop at the store during the day. For me that could be big with me being on the road all the time. Propel is some real good tasting water.

If you cut out beer and soda you can loose at least 10 pounds in 6 weeks.

Cutting out Soda and booze were the real start for me. I started seeing a significant difference which helped me to be more aggressive and try disciplined portion control

I cut out soda last year. I was only drinking diet soda though. Now I just drink diet iced tea. When I go to a restaurant for a sit-down meal I get an Arnold Palmer (1/2 tea, 1/2 lemonade).

I also cut out french fries and chips except once in a great while I'll get some whole wheat crackers like Wheat Thins.
