I recently got a new setup like yourself BAS. Plasma, surround sound, BluRay and the Harmony Universal remote. I believe it was $200 but I'm not 100% sure what I paid for it. I like it a lot but I think knowing what I know now I would spend even a little more and get the upgrade that's Infared I believe they said. This one you have to pretty much point it right at the setup for it to work correctly, sometimes if your not aiming it right at the receiver it wont work. The infred would solve that issue. IMO, when your spending that kind of mioney you might as well go all out. I had Best Buy set up my whole system and program the remote. Well worth it for me. They said the infred remote was $300 but I found them a lot cheaper looking online.

BAS,

That is cheap. My universal remote was just under $500 and this is a less expensive one. Now, the cool think with mine is that it controls 5 tvs, but they are fucking ripoffs. The worst part is the LCD screen on the inside broke and need a new remote, cost is going to $1000, because the guy needs to come out and program it to a completely new system. You could also have them set one up for you through the Ipad.

Yeah sound like a similar set up. and Yes Harmony is the Brand.

I hear what you are saying about spending and having the Right thing, what's a few $$$ more.

Guess maybe I go with the better one.... Do you remember what Model is the one you are talking about ??

Thanks

$500 ?? $1000 ?? What brand are those ?

See that's the thing.... I only need it to control the Blu Ray, sound bar, TV and Fios box.

My set up in the Den/ Office is fine. 4 TV's etc.

Unless it comes with a HOT Girl to push the buttons, I'm not spending $1000 for a Remote ! @)

And believe Me, I'm far from Cheap !
I like to spend Money on good things.....

There are fringe benefits of buying a powerful universal remote. My buddy uses his to fuck with his neighbor, who he hates. Once in a while, he and his son will look across the street to see if the neighbor is watching TV. If he is, they will use their high-powered remote to change the channel. When the neighbor changes the channel back, they change it again. Drives the neighbor nuts and provides plenty of laughs.

Damn, $200-$500 for a remote control? Yall are living the good life

Guys have to have Toys Too... :103631605

The problem with Toys for Men, once you buy something... They come out with another one, Bigger, Better and cost More.

My first Blu Ray set up was only $249 ( Never took it out of the Box ) once the guy told me I want Better..... went out and spent $649, so for another $200 to get it Complete... ain't that bad.

I have a Nevo Q50.

You don't need to spend that much for what you are looking to do, shouldn't be more than $50.

Thanks Bushay.... I will be looking into those.

So with My set up that I talked about before, should I get the 2nd one ??
or for what I need the First one ?

Hey, i'm prolly as big a novice about these as you. This is what the guy who installed my system recommended so I bought it. I'm more than happy with it. I'm like you, if there's something better out there, I want it. Money's not really the issue with me when it comes to this stuff. When I buy something, I usually have the have the Cadillac. Cause I'm usually pissed at myself for not buying it in the first place. I'm just saying...if it was put to me now like it was when I was buying, I would have bought the 900 model. The 2nd one.

BTD, Either your not married or you have a shit load of money; no way a married man spends that much on a remote unless he's loaded.

The 2 coolest features about these are this...
It has a "help" button. If you pick up the unit and push "Watch TV" and something doesn't function, it will fix it for you. Meaning it will ask you if each receiver is turned on or off and if it's off it will turn it on for you automatically. It fixes the problem by itself pretty much.

The 2nd thing is it lights up when you shake it a little. It's dark when not in use but all you have to do is shake it and all the buttons light up at night so it's real easy to use any of the functions. Then shuts down to save on batteries. It also has a charging station it sits in when not in use. My salesman told me when I was buying it that once I get it I will never go without one from here on out. He was right. I've got about 6 electronics programmed with a few more to go. Next to program is my fan that's in my room at all times. No more remotes but one around the house.
