Tragic. Am I right in thinking he got a game winning hit in his first game as a Met? RIP Kid.

When informed he was part of the Death Trifecta started by Whitney Houston this past weekend, Carter officially pulled his first roll over in the ol' pine box

My old high school running back and Desert Storm Veteran Rodney Hunter also died from Brain Cancer. Heathly as a horse bench pressing 350lbs one day and on his death bed six months later. Just a brutal disease to try and contend with. Very sad but thankful for being able to see Gary Carter play in his prime.

I can't believe he's dead. How old was he? Sorry to see him go. Didn't he play with a Canadian team before the Mets?

Played long time with the Expos, Arguably the most popular Expos of all time along with Rusty Staub. Some of the other popular players that come to mind before the franchise moved to Washington were Pedro Martinez, Denny Martinez(EL Presidente), Moses Alou, Vlady Guerrero

Seemed always uplifting and full of energy, players often said he was a born leader and excellent team player.

RIP Gary, he was 57

He was almost completely underappreciated as a catcher. But was one of the greats of all time.
