Broken Finger

I broke my finger over a week ago. It's even more gross today.

right below my finger nail its "swelled" up. then there is a gross indentation below that. My finger is fugly.

I just bought a splint when it happened, thinking that all I need.

Anyone ever broken a finger? will it heal normal with just a splint? or do I need to go to the doctors

I have broken several fingers. Which one is it?

Did you tape it to a good finger when you splinted it?

Shouldn't need a doctor unless you want pain meds, they won't do shit for a broken finger unless it's really fucked up.

middle finger....
nope I didn't tape it to a good finger... its broken just below the finger nail.... had a metal split I bought

I dont need pain meds, advil did enough....

alright, I guess I hope it heals right. It's disgusting looking now, worse than even at first

Just realized Im using a baseball splint. not the same thing. hope I didn't deform my finger forever

i broke my index finger 6 weeks ago at work and it is still ugly.they put a splint on the finger itself,its a finger splint especially for a single finger.you are not supposed to tape it with this type of splint on it.

i don't klnow how you broke your finger but i had a a 500 lb door crush mine and it was horrible and still is.its broke in 3 places around the tip and it will take up to 6 more months before it heels and pushes all the junk under the nail out.it was the worst pain i ever endured,wow did i fucking scream.but there is really nothing else you can do for a broken finger,and it will take forever to heel

I thought it would be like a stubbed toe. It would hurt at first and go away quickly , just take healing time.. nope. I was in pain for several days... everytime I put on the splint, I wanted to yell. but that was because I was using the wrong splint...

6 months. wow.

That's what I meant by "really fucked up"...if it's a compound fracture or a crush it's a totally different situation than a clean break.

I wouldn't use a splint at all, I would just tape it tightly to my index finger. Seriously, I am not a doctor, but I am a clumsy motherfucker who has broken many a toe and finger. If Advil is sufficient for the pain there is absolutely no reason for a doctor unless you think it is broken in more than one spot.

i broke my middle finger taking a hot smash ground ball. distal end of the finger shattered into pieces, no reset possible. i now have an alien finger with a nice hook to it. hurts like a bitch in the cold weather. my finger was swollen for a few weeks, purple green and black. nail fell out after a month or two, but it'll heal.
