Got a decent deal on flight/hotel for just a few days ($220 roundup and 4 nights at Stratosphere). Is there anything redeeming about the place? I know it's location isn't convenient to anything... Figure I could always walk to the monorail and take that down in the day and taxi back late night.

there is very little redeeming at the strat, although i believe they have some
low limit buy in poker tournaments on a daily basis that might have enough
seed or guaranteed money to make them have some positive equity. certainly
the talent level wouldn't be very high in that poker room, especially
on weekends.

That's about what I figured - so given the location, and my short stay, how would you maximize the time? What's the easiest good property to get to?

wow nice nice deal. The strat not that bad if you play poker. They got some good stuff and anyways if you think it sucks just a resting place at the end of the night.
There are much worse places than that.

Yea, back when I was in Boston, it required so much more of a commitment to visit LV, both time and money... Now it's nothing, especially off season. I was going to visit in March for a longer duration, but I decided on a trip home instead.

Go to the top of the strat tower. It's pretty cool. And if you got the guts you can take that ride where you jump off the top!

You probably know this, but that's not the best of neighborhoods, "Naked City," watch your back around there and stay alert...

I have heard that - I've only ever stayed downtown before, so I have yet to experience it... Appreciate the heads-up.

If anyone has thoughts on these, please share...
Good sportsbook for getting free drinks and actually enjoying a game? I've heard Caesar's?
Great place to eat, alone - so preferably a bar/lounge?

Thanks fellas.

They have all you can drink specials everyday. Lots of hookers. The bus runs 24/7 to take you to the monorail. Downtown is not far away.

I actually did that last time I was there last year (pretty amazing/rush). I actually think the hotel itself isnt' bad at all but I've never stayed there.

I believe the Strat has "crapless" craps, which I prefer over regular craps table. BJ gonna be the same at most places on the strip, even though you're at the North End. Better "gamble" generally downtown, but not that big of a difference.

As for where to go, all depends what you want. If you want to watch sports in a nice environment, then Caesars Palace is the place to go. Emeril's stadium in Palazzo also a great place.

Dinner, can't go wrong at Hugo's, which is in the basement of the 4queens. Great restaurant but it'll run you $100 a head.

Margaritaville opened it's own casino now over in Flamingo if you're a parrothead and get into Jimmy Buffet. Margaritaville Restaurant also nice but the food is expensive as compared to what you're getting.

I stayed at JW Marriot for 2 days then over at the Cosmo for 4 for the week of the Superbowl. Not a big fan on the slots / video poker anywhere at Citycenter as it seems the hold is beyond crazy there.

Not once in the entire week did I see a handpay on any slots machine, and let me tell you I spent a lot of time on the casino floors.

Oh - one more - Taco's and Tequila, which is on the 2nd level of the Luxor, has a great steak fajita.

Have fun, but not too much.

Excellent - thanks for the thoughts, really appreciate it. Will definitely check the book at Caesar's out.

Went on the ride called Insanity at the top with my son and his buddy. The ride was operated by a bunch of kids who barely gave a shit about checking to see if you're strapped in correctly. One of the scariest things I've done in my life. It was a fucking hoot.

Going back to LV next Tuesday - got roundtrip & 3 nights at Vdara for $400. Mostly going to escape Portland, and just get some R&R in... Anything I should be absolutely sure to do in that area? Bellagio and Aria are right there, who has the best sports book out of two?

Thanks for any thoughts.

Wish it was cheaper from NY
Going to pay about $620 RT for end of March

Don't pay for the Hotel or Meals, so I guess I can't bitch.
