Will there be another Surprise Winner in the 500?

Well, Jamie McMurray in 2010 and Trevor Bayne in 2011 were surprises to me.

Just look at the names in the top-10 after Sunday's qualifying session: Marcos Ambrose, Casey Mears, Martin Truex, Trevor Bayne and Ricky Stenhouse. Those five will start their Duel race in the first three rows and if they can hold on, might have a super starting position for the 500.

Many feel that the Daytona 500 is a crapshoot and anyone can win. With the restrictor plate and pack racing....anything can happen.

But, is it likely another surprise will win this year's big race?

I may put 10 units on Danica. LOL.
I did not see qualifying. I did see a little of the Shootout. Looks like if the race car is bump on the left bumper than the car can get loose and cause a wreck. The wreck can cause many cars to be out of the race. This race is like a crap shot.

I like Kyle Busch, Jimmie or Tony to win. These drivers have a less chance of getting loose IMO.

Truex had a decent run last year and could use the experience to make a dash for it. I think Stenhouse might have some beginners luck as well with a decent run. However decent run does not equal a trip to Victory Lane in The Great American Race. Somtimes I think starting positions are are over emphasized but that is just specualtion on my part. Any driver who is still on the lead lap with around 40 laps to go can then start to dial in on the final portion of the race and that is where the real excitment can be found.

I think I'm going to bet on a few Ford drivers to win. Fords have been looking very strong so far. A little wager on Kyle Busch too because he drove his ass of in the Bud Shootout.
