Just said "they beat the World Champion Mpls Lakers". Yeah, 2 out of 9 gms! Lakers kicked their ass, from 1948 to 54 Big George once put up 47 on em. Bunch of PC BS!!! I saw one of the games, Mikan & Pollard were too much for them to handle.:):)Correction1 game was canceled.

Actually the last game was in 1958 not 54, my memory you know. The Trotters won the 1st 2, by 2(last min shot) & 4. Lakers avg. margin of victory was 14+.

They weren't and aren't being billed as an "exhibition" team Rather as this tm that beat the Lakers, they didn't mention the 6 losses and the results were beatdowns. Learn some history pal, I saw that great Laker tm beat the best & the Trotters were no match. BTW there was a guy on the 49 & 50 Lakers who was on the roster of the 51 & 52 Phil Eagles????? Yeah, it IS "interesting". If you were THERE at the time. After the 1st 2, George, Mik & the "Kangaroo Kid" got serious.:toast:

I would have thought a GREAT NBA team would never lose to a group of guys assembled to play at county fairs and high school gyms as fund raisers.

This was waaay before your time rook, & you have no idea what the Trotters were billed as or what they claimed they could do if given a chance. Well they were & the cream rose. If you don't know what the climate of the times was don't talk & expose your ignorance! BTW anyone with some sports knowledge know who that player was?

Those globetrotters back then would have had the opposite record against todays LA Lakers who are garbage

So you're saying the Lakers refused to fall for the play where Meadowlark puts the stepladder under the hoop for Curly to drive & dunk??

ESPN is mostly shit. Didn't Wilt and Bob Gibson play for the Globetrotters in that era?

When the Lakers they like everyone else took it as a joke. No effort, result a 4 pt loss. Kundla was furious, so for the 2nd they did play a tad better, lost on on a last second shot. By this time they had the attn. of Sid Hartman & Max Winter the powers behind the tm. They laid down the law. Mikan & Pollard were especially embarrassed. After that 6 straight, by an avg. of +14. I was 16 then & saw a gm at the old Mpls Aud.! What a dump. One of the main reasons you now have Lakers ? in LA. Mpls too nearsighted & cheap to build a proper venue. When George & Jim were joined by a young kid out of Hamline, Mik 6'7" 235#. and with Mikans tutledge he became one of the best PF of his day. Hell of a front line for its time. Loved Pollard aka. Kangaroo Kid, great leaper for a white guy, course there were no blacks in the NBA then Different times for sure.

As far as I am concerned, there is only one Kangaroo Kid......Billy Cunningham...
