Thiago Alves Gains Almost 30 Pounds A Few Hours After Weigh-In

by Anton Tabuena on Mar 2, 2012 7:01 AM EST in UFC News

Apparently, Thiago Alves was almost 30 lbs heavier just a few hours after the official weigh-in.

Thiago Alves, has had problems with his weight in the past, missing the welterweight limit multiple times, and was even caught using banned diuretics a few years ago. 'The Pitbull' has since changed up his diet, and made weight properly on his more recent bouts, including tonight's bout against Martin Kampmann, where he officially weighed in at 170.5 lbs.

Mike Dolce, his nutritionist who has been helping him diet and cut weight better, had a few interesting tweets about Alves' cut. He posted a photo claiming that Alves, who has always been one of the larger guys in the division, has gained a whopping 27.6 lbs in just a few hours from the official weigh-in:

went with a small bet on Pineda under 2.5 rounds so far. He's had 23 professional fights and none have ever gone the distance. starts in a few

perosh a winner with :01 left in first...

Te Huna should win but odds are too big

later on grabbing Urushitani over 2.5... huge underdogs normally don't last the distance but both fighters usually go the full time. If Urushitani can stay out of guillotine choke he will last the 3 rounds
