That's been the story around Wisconsin for months. STD. Braun supposedly went to a private doc and got a shot. Then was tested. A few days later, took another drug test and was normal. Braun is not a roid freak. Look at him. Nothing lucky about beating this rap. The odds were against him unless he was completely innocent.

Bad for baseball so just overturn it and it goes away.

Looks worse on the league to overturn this. You want people to have faith in MLB players being clean, your drug detection methods must be strict...I think the league is pissed it was repealed.

Probably put out there by Braun's people. Everyone who fails a test denies it initially and makes some BS story up why they tested positive (Armstrong, Ben Johnson Every athlete in the BALCO investigation) and how many of them do you think are innocent? Honestly, I don't care if the athletes dope or not because I am not a "purist" and actually like paying to see the biggest, fastest athletes in the world compete with help or not but drop the excuses I think this excuse would make the top 10 of this list:

Did it really matter even if that was true?
In my opinion there are three scenarios, which all should have the same outcome:
1) This is just a bad attempt of trying to cover up him taking some PEDs --> ban his ass because he tried to cheat
2) He indeed had a STD and took some meds containing a banned substance that caused the positive test
--> he knew that he was taking some banned substance (and STILL PLAYED while being on that stuff) --> ban his ass because he tried to cheat
--> he didn't know that stuff contained a banned substance --> ban his ass for stupidity: Every pro athlete should be wise enough to inquire about the meds and the substances in it. Shouldn't be too hard to consult the medical staff of your team to find out if you're good or if that medication might cause a positive test.
Either way he didn't have any problems playing while taking some banned substance, so I don't really see why he should be let off the hook since that stuff is banned for a reason and if (for w/e reason) you are required to take banned substances DON'T PLAY...

^ No , it doesn't matter at all if it was true , as it was not mentioned in his appeal. His whole defence was based upon the fact that the person who collected his blood sample did not follow the proper chain of protocol and even took the sample home with him/her and put it in the fridge.

That's it , PERIOD !

He beat the rap b/c of an incompetent employee.

If the pee sample sits, you must acquit.

Word from the anti-doping agency is that the employee didn't do anything wrong... It's just that the arbiter chose to vote in Brain's favor.

But, from my understanding, the league is furious over this... It was an independent arbiter that was the deciding vote (the league voted against RB, the players union for him). I don't think there's any weight to a conspiracy theory involving the league... They're pretty pissed I imagine.
