I think that total is high. I'm unfortunately cursed being a life long season ticket Cubs fan.
First of all -- Theo might be a seller at the trading deadline? He will sell off any player he can get rid of. The only player who should consider buying long term real estate in Chicago is Castro.
The hitting is putrid. Absolutely no power on this team and they are still loaded with guys that will strike out a ton. As FW said the power guys are Soriano and Lahair. I actually read that Sori is going to bat cleanup. Lahair is a place card until they call up Rizzo from Iowa. LaHair has the dreaded AAAA tag.
Cubs have replaced Aramis Ramirez with Ian Stewart? I'll pencil him in for 10 long balls from a power position
Barney at 2nd -- good for about 2
Right Field -- big power from David DeJesus -- how many you think he will get? I'll go with 8.
Then we turn to the strength of the Cubs -- pitching
Garza -- very solid
Dempster -- old and average
Maholm - health concerns but could be decent
4th and 5th -- good luck finding wins with Volstad, Sonnastine, Wells, Wood -- these guys all simply suck.
I think the Cubs make a run for 100 losses. Its tuff to do it but its certainly within reach. I would consider 75 wins a great season for this team.
It depresses me as I will be spending a ton of time there this summer.
