NEW YORK (AP) - Former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Gregg Williams is apologizing for running a bounty program that targeted opposing players for injuries.
The NFL on Friday said that it had found between 22 and 27 Saints participated in the program over the last three seasons, and that players including quarterbacks Kurt Warner and Brett Favre were targeted.
In a statement, Williams says the program was a "terrible mistake and we knew it was wrong while we were doing it." Now the defensive coordinator for the St. Louis Rams, Williams adds, "I am truly sorry" and promises not to participate in similar activities again.

Yeah I'd make them a fav to lose a draft pick to make an example. I'm sure they aren't the only team that does this (although probably the only one where the coach and DC encouraged it)

I'm sure Balt, Pitt etc do this as well.....I think they will lose a 2nd or 3rd maybe.

I thought this was going to be bad till it started coming out that half the league was doing this.
If they punish the Saints and nobody else this would be tragic and un justified.

If they are fair about it the 1st round will only have about 15 picks.

Dungy: Gregg Williams’ Redskins may have started Peyton Manning’s neck issues

The cash was kept stashed away at the team facility, in safe hands. After coaches reviewed Sunday's film, we paid it back out. Our accountability, governed by our accounting.
That's right. We got paid for big hits, clean hits by the rule book.
Money came in for more than watching a guy leave the field. We earned extra for interceptions, sacks and forced fumbles. If the till wasn't paid out, we just rolled it over.
Money jumped in the playoffs. A bigger stage equaled more coin. Instead of a few hundred dollars, now you got a thousand, maybe more, depending on the player.
That's the truth. I can't sugarcoat this. It was a system we all bought into.
I ate it up.
"If that meant playing through the whistle or going low on a tackle, I did it,"

This is absolutely ridiculous, I coach kids and it keeps getting harder and harder to teach them the difference between right and wrong when all they have to do is turn on the tv or read a newspaper where these moronic so called "professionals" are disgracing the sport and disgracing themselves as so called "men" as well.
