He could easily have had 25+ pts too... Quite a few layups missed. Very good game for the Cs - PP shot extremely well also

Yep Pierce made a lot of tough shots. Just when you think the Celts are fading they have a game like today.

As a lifetime Celtics fan, I cannot believe the Celtics would be
so stupid as to trade Rondo.

He's the best player on the team, and they need to build around him.

If he continues to improve his jump shot, he has the potential to
become one of the best point guards of all time.

While I agree Rondo is a great basketball player, you cant build a team around a guy with such a negative attitude.
While the Celtics have aged, that's not their problem, it's team chemistry.

Totally agree. This guy rises up to play in every big game. People forget how he carried them to the second Championship match-up with LA. He is the future and just because he is stubborn doesn't mean he is a punk or negative

I also think they need to hang on to him - how do you get value back for a guy like this?? I think the future is bright for the Cs, they may need to wait a bit, and spend really wisely next offseason, but I think with those expiring contracts, Ainge might be able to really do something.

I'd trade him. Only thing they have of any value at this point, and he's a whiny bitch (which will be 100 times worse if they even take a step back to rebuild on the fly).

He will never be the best (or even second best) player on a championship team.

I think a deal that might happen is rondo for d williams if/when the nets can't get howard.

I wouldn't trade him simply because there isn't much to get for him right now. As far as DWill for Rondo, that will never happen. Why would the C's do that? DWill won't resign with them.

I like watching him play, he is a unique player and games like this definitely are the upside with him. The downside is he still can't shoot and probably will never be able to, tough to score in the last 5 mins of games vs good defensive teams when 1 of your guys won't shoot the ball and doesn't need to be defended.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news celticgreen but what do you think that cap room is going to amount to? There aren't any good game-changing FA types for the next 3 years really (unless you count Cousins, but he might be dead in 3 years) once DWill and DHoward sign.

Yes he did carry them vs Orl/Cle but in the finals the Lakers were able to play Kobe 6 feet off him at all times and help on everyone else cause Rondo couldn't shoot. Their offense was very frustrating to watch in that series vs a good defensive team.

Also if anyone cares, my blueprint for the C's would be to just keep the core and try to flip JOs contract and a pick (if teams are smart they would want a #1 from the C's since they will be fading soon) and try to get a big like Varejao or Al Jefferson from a rebuilding team then make 1 last playoff run. Who knows, maybe Miami can draw NYK rd 1 and it'll be a tough series for them. Nobody thought Dallas would win it all last year at this time either...

That being said, if C's dont make a move for another big I think they are probably sliding into pretender mode.

No I agree, there aren't game-changing guys out there... But that's why think keeping him is the right move. We can disagree on that - that's fine. Hopefully whatever they do, it turns out well.

Not trying to be sound cynical here but I'm not sure what you really meant by you think the future is bright. I think once the big 3 leave, there are gonna be some bad years in there probably. It won't be easy to get guys in FA because there just won't be many good FAs to get (new CBA bad teams gotta spend 90% of the cap so they will overpay their own players)

Miami, Knicks, Bulls, even Pacers.....Doubt C's see rd 2 for awhile after this year (if they do this year)

That's cool - I have faith that things will work out, but if things do get bad, I can survive as a Cs fan.. I had season tickets in 06-07 when things were atrocious, and still had 'em in 07-08 to see them win the title. Oh, and it's 85% of the cap next year... it doesn't go up to 90% until '13-'14.

We all remember the whole Kobe 6 feet off of him but people forget KG couldn't hit a shoot that finals and Perk didn't tear his knee we would have won despite that . If they had anyone off the bench like MP or Bass that would have been a easy second title. Rondo will never shoot threes or be a great shooter but i would take him over Williams or Westbrook in a heart beat. I know i will get shit for this but whatever. Westbrook does not know how to run an offense he has a about three assistats per game. Everyone says Rondo whine and bitches half of the freakin players in the NBA do about less stupid things then him. He whines because he wants to be the BEST and WIN THE TITLE. The kid is proven winner and plays his best when the spot light on him. He is playing with three aging supers stars that still think they are young i think you would whine too.

He is kinda like that hot chick you date thats perfect and you are wondering why she was single, why she is with you, how did you get so lucky? She can cook, clean, is funny. Then the other shoe drops and you foundout she dated Flava Flav for 2 years and has a sex tape out with him....

That is what Rondo is like...He does everything well, has been a proven winner but at the end of the day he can't shoot.

Pats does he need to shoot if the right players are around him? They already won one title and were 6 minutes away from another. He is a top 10 at least PG i would say top 5 that makes 6 million less then the other PGs around the league.

The problem is it takes a special occasion like going up against a guy in Jeremy Lin who's all the hype right now to get Rondo motivated.

He doesn't show up every night like most top players do.
