After gambling for 20+ years and this being my worst season ever in CBB and CFB, I am done forever. There were some high wins and low losses, but the time wasted is what I wish I could have back.

After losing the 2nd half on the 2nd SDSU/UNM game today, I decided that is all for me, time to spend life on other things instead of worrying if 18-22 kids can make or miss a shot.

I had the 2nd half under at 69.5, they scored 44 points with 2:58. They managed to score 26 points in the final 3 minutes of a game that had an 11 point difference. I have seen all kinds of finishes in my time, but this was the final nail in the coffin.

Too much else to do in life, instead worrying about if a kid can make a shot or not.

Good luck to those of you that wager and continue to do so.

How many times in your life had you said this before?

This is the first. Never said it before.

I had already been thinking about it for a while, just seeing how much time is spent on it. It helped that I had a very bad year, but the financial losses were not the primary reason. I wish i could have the time back. missed out on so much because of it.

sorry to hear this.. Even though we butt heads from time to time, you seem pretty intelligent to me and know your stuff.. I took a 3 year break from this after the 07 tournament and came back from that more focused then ever.. part of it was the BOS and Neteller situations, but overall it really helped..Not sure if you were a recreational gambler or not, but if it is recreational and your losing , best thing to do is get out.. Thanks Red Eye.

No, I used to fly to Vegas nearly every weekend during football season, didn't this year, but I used to really throw down on games. Last year during hoops spent 11 weeks in Vegas between December and March.

Just too much else to do in life. I am in my mid-30's and don't want to miss out on other things like I have in the past.

Did you have winning years or was it all losses?

No, I had some very, very good years. Even when I was winning was getting tired of it.

KON, you PMed, I talked to you about some of the stuff. I mean if you were ever at the Hilton from 2006-2010, you would have seen me there during football and hoops and I didn't live in Vegas.

I don't bet parlays or teasers.

Betting do's and don't and sports knowledge for me were 2nd to none. Hell, ask the Sports Direct at Hard Rock. He knows me very well.

It is just the time, for example, I have been in front of the TVs since 10:00 AM, 10 hours doing nothing. Suprised the wife hasn't filed for divorce.

That's probably why I don't gamble much anymore. I used to study study study (some great years, some awful, just like most everyone else). But even at work, I would spend 2/3 hours a day crunching numbers, looking at trends, etc. Then spend at least half a day watching games/checking scores. I haven't bet college hoops even once this year and it's weird to watch Big Monday and not have bets on any games.

It is amazing how much time one gains back though. I even sometime wonder how I got anything done before. And I agree with BigTen, it's not about winning or losing for me or those that can afford it. I still bet everyone once in awhile too but as I get older and more financially secure, the wins/losses don't mean as much either. College years while it would ruin/make my week, now it's not much of a big deal. Damn I'm rambling....

No wonder I have always thought you were an idiot.

Some of us actually have the ability to folllow-up on what we say. Check my history, I have never once said on here that I am quitting prior today.

Has nothing to do with winning or losing, but as I have stated in several post gambling related, I have always stated it is too time consuming.

If I had won today, I would have quit at the end of March. I had pretty much decided that I don't want to look back in another 20 years and say I spent 40 years gambling, too much to do in life.

What the hell is a college kid doing posting on a gambling forum on Saturday night at 9:15 CST. No trim to hunt in MN?

I will post on here, probably just not as much.

I really like the site, good people from all over and varying opinions and people who have knowledge in a variety of areas. I have read some of the funniest thing in my life on this website.

So basically you are telling us that because you took a horrible beat on a college total that you have now all of a sudden realized there is so much more to life than sweating games?

Trust me when I tell you that you are spot on stepping away from this life. The good news is that you are still only in your 30's. Walk away and don't look back. There is a whole life ahead of you, but you can only find it if you move on! You won't be sorry years from now. Wishing you all the best as you begin your new endeavors.

Take good care...................Ted
